Christoph Schlingensief - Die Piloten

Documentary satire about a project by Christoph Schlingensief: Ten years after his TV project "Talk 2000", Schlingensief started to work on a new talk show – at least that was what he claimed. But in reality, it was obvious that the pilot episodes he produced would never be broadcasted. Nevertheless, all celebrities from the political and cultural sphere, Schlingensief had requested, accepted his invitation, including the filmmaker Oskar Roehler, the televangelist Jürgen Fliege, the politician Claudia Roth, or the rapper Sido. It is beyond question, that the talk show panel took an unconventional course directly from the start – and was soon threatening to turn into an uproar.

Apprenticeships are rare, and without money, independence from the strict parental home is impossible. But now they are enjoying the Berlin summer together once again, wandering the streets, chasing boys, going to parties, "hanging out".

Leon Askin - (Über)Leben und Schauspiel. Private Anmerkungen

"The art of the stage actor and even of a stage director is evanescent. Nothing remains of it but a 'still' photograph or two (...) Not everyone can be a genius. Somebody has to be a Leon Askin - and that's me." Leon Askin, born in Vienna in 1907 , fled from the Nazis to the USA in 1940. The private Leon Askin is portrayed: his daily routine, his contact with those around him, at work. During quiet moments, he discusses his thoughts about persecution, emigration, work, discipline, success, the image one projects to the world, his identity as a Jew, loneliness, the struggle for recognition and health, life acting - and also about death.

Judenhass: Unser Leben nach dem 7. Oktober

After the brutal massacre by the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas in Israel on October 7, 2023, the worst act of bloodshed against Jews since World War II, anti-Semitism has reached a new qualitative dimension worldwide, including in Germany: arson attacks on synagogues, Star of David markings on front doors, graffiti on Holocaust memorials, well-attended demonstrations with anti-Israel slogans and shouts of "get out of here" at German universities by supposedly left-wing extremists, whose blatant threatening gestures and threats of annihilation are more reminiscent of the views of their Nazi grandfathers. Where is the state taking consistent action against such hostilities and where is the loud protest from the middle of society? Is Jewish life still safe in Germany? The documentary film has followed four German Jews in their fight against hatred over the last three months since the massacre and lets them report on their experiences.

KIM

The story of an exceptional painter talent, the Belgian-Hungarian Kim Corbisier who left a brilliantly powerful oeuvre behind after her tragically short and intense life. And a camera at her filmmaker friend. The mesmerising and often shocking footage of the camera bear witness to Kim's struggles with methadone addiction and, above all, her identity crisis caused by a series of unfortunate and criminal accidents in her family. After the unfinished attempts, with this film, the filmmaker is realising a project they had planned together 10 years ago.

Schlesiens Wilder Westen

"I can live better in a place whose history I know," says a young Pole in the prologue of this film. He lives in Kopaniec, formerly Seifershau - a village in Lower Silesia. Between the past and the present lay the expulsion of the Germans and the resettlement of the Poles, many of whom were themselves expellees from what is now Ukraine. The village is the focus of the film and the link between the former and present inhabitants. The younger Poles have grown up with the visits of the former German inhabitants. The life stories of the older Poles and Germans tell of war and expulsion, but also of the time when they lived together in the village, directly after the war. The region was called "The Wild West" in Poland at the time. "Silesia's Wild West" asks what home is: a place, a person, a feeling, a memory?
