Darkside Blues

The Persona Century Corporation has purchased nearly every parcel of land on earth. Dissension is not tolerated within the corporation's borders and those who oppose Persona are dealt with swiftly. Of those few places not yet under Persona's control is the free town of Kabuki-cho, also known as "The Dark Side of Tokyo". Within the town, under the leadership of a woman named Mai, is a small resistance group called Messiah. Into this world steps a man who takes the sobriquet of Kabuki-cho: Darkside. Sealed up in another dimension eighteen years ago by Persona Century, Darkside now returns to aid Messiah using his unique mystic power of renewal.

Exploitation diva Kei Mizutani movie stars within this omnibus flick featuring three reports of madness and sensuality. The first part, entitled "Two Women known as Mariko," paints an image of a younger comely lass named Mariko, whom, because of to a strange series of occasions during her youth, finds by herself the slave of another girl coincidentally also named Mariko. Into the 2nd yarn, five ladies endeavor to a remote cottage. Yet maybe not very long after, the quintet occur upon a corpse. Plus in the final portion, entitled "The guy within the Pillory," a young dancer looks for the dastardly villain that drove her sister to suicide

Chow Mei Si (Diana Pang) is a late-night radio DJ who receives an ominous warning from one of her callers. The caller, named "Hungry Wolf", says that he's going to blow up a hospital...and he does! Chow Mei Si tries to warn cop Wong Chi Ming (Michael Wong), but he's skeptical. That is, until the caller threatens to blow up a kindergarten and promptly follows through. Now Wong and his partner (Joyce Ni) must protect Chow Mei Si from the bomber before he can claim her as his next victim!

Mindy Chan (Andy Lau) is a top-notched gambler/swindler. His girlfriend Lily (Christy Chung) and friend Ah Chi are card dealers at the casino where bad guy Lau and his mistress Mona (Anita Lee) frequent. Chor Hung (Tony Leung Ka-Fai), a play on the Chinese name for famed retired actress Cherie Chung, is a senior security guard at the local prison. During a card game, Ah Chi and Mindy swindle millions of dollars from Lau, but they are caught. Lau makes a deal with Mindy - in exchange for Ah Chi (who had been kidnapped), Mindy needs to go to prison and find out where a guy named Robinson (Kwan Hoi-San) has hidden $3 billion dollars worth of bonds.

The Crucifixion

CID officers Ho Tin-nam (Michael Chow) and Jacky Wong (Hilary Tsui) follow a stray dog to the crucified body of a truck driver in a remote area. Much of the suspicion centres on his fellow trucker Chan (Shing Fui-on), particularly when the victim's wife is killed as well. When not only Chan, but the nosy stray dog are added to the growing number of victims, attention is focused on an arrangement which the drivers had with a Chinese prostitute named Yin-fong. She had been their secret liaison in Shenzhen, and committed suicide when the men refused to let her stop providing her services to them. Yin-fong's twin sister Mei-ping (Miki Ng) also becomes a suspect, but yet another murder provides her with an alibi. Officers Ho Tin-nam and Jacky are faced with a plethora of red herring leads and an escalating body count before they can bring the real killer to justice.

Four reporters from a tabloid magazine stalks a model for their gossip column. The model, having breaking up with her rich boyfriend, later commits suicide to escape all the pressure. The reporters relentlessly post the photos of suicide aftermath in their tabloid magazines. Years later, the reporters begin to fester and die violent deaths, and an inspector is assigned to track down the perpetrator. In addition, the inspector claims he has seen the model at the crime scenes, even if it has since been four years after her death!

A beautiful widow named Ruriko Omuta visits the Akechi residence and asks Kogoro Akechi to provide her with personal security. Just then, art dealer Yamano is shot dead right before Ruriko’s eyes. Meanwhile, back in her hometown of Nagasaki, a man named Shigeyuki Satomi—claiming to be a distant relative of Ruriko’s late husband—appears before her. Though Ruriko finds herself drawn to Satomi, she already has a lover named Yoshio Kawamura. What’s more, Kawamura has been involved in a terrible crime alongside Ruriko. Will Akechi be able to uncover their secret? And who is Satomi really?

Mr. Sardine

Derek Chiu Sung-kei directs this low-budget yarn about a mild-mannered grocery store clerk named Sardine (Dayo Wong Chi-wah) who lives a highly ordered life in an apartment filled with canned goods. His equilibrium is smashed when his landlady evicts him to make way for her daughter Anna (Irene Wan Pik-ha) to move in. When the middle-aged woman keels over from a bad combination of Panadol and liquor, Sardine believes that he is responsible for her death and tries to hide the body. Trouble ensues when Anna finds the corpse in Sardine's apartment while Sardine contends with a devious fellow employee who tries to get him canned from the supermarket.
