Criminal Woman: Killing Melody

Reiko Ike stars as the daughter of a man who has been pushed into drug dealing by the local Yakuza mob. Upon release Reiko reassembles her mob and launches a Machiavellian scheme to engineer a gang war between Hayama's Oba Industries and the formerly dominant Hamayasu Clan. The rival gangs begin killing each other off and Reiko works her way closer to her ultimate vengeance.

After seeing her husband off to work, the young author identified only as Yoshiko sets off to read the large collection of letters she received from other young authors. These are often letters containing samples of their work for critique. One large envelope contains a letter. The letter-writer does not provide his name. The letter is a confession of crimes. The letter-writer has no family or friends, and claims to be "ugly beyond description". He is a chair maker and loves his work and all the chairs he creates, even going so far as to claim some sort of intangible connection to his work.

Thanks to a counterattack led by Tamura (Yoshiyuki Yamaguchi) and the others, the assailants are captured, revealing that the attack was ordered by Sakashita, head of the Sakashita-gumi in Fukui, a group connected to the West Japan Mutsumikai. Seeking revenge, Kawatani (Hitoshi Ozawa) takes the lead in preparing Kyowakai for a full-scale war against the West Japan Mutsumikai, mobilizing the entire organization. However, Kudo intervenes and orders a withdrawal from Fukui.
