In Nöchling, things tick a little differently. Gossip flourishes here – and when the two village policemen aren't smoking pot, they roar through the countryside in their three-wheeled "Polizia" car (sic!). But dark clouds are gathering over the idyll: The "Ostamt" (Eastern Office), which has long since lost its "P" (signature), is threatened with closure. The two postal workers give in to their booze and get into an argument with the local butcher's son-in-law. The next day, the man has disappeared – and the policemen, who have apparently watched too many "CSI" episodes, begin their momentous, but nonetheless flawed, investigation. Yes, and there's even something resembling a love story.

When the portrait "becomes alive" and the woman in the painting shows up at the artist's exhibition opening, Vlado's life is turned upside down. A whirlwind of curious events and unexplained suicides takes him into a world where reality and fantasy are intertwined, a world created by a manipulative international corporation. In the world where relationships are just a means to an end and death is only an illusion, control and power are of ultimate value.
