Ambitious magistrate Vittoria (Valeria Solarino) makes the dramatic decision to relocate from the north to the south of Italy with one mission in mind – to defeat the Calabrian ‘‘Ndrangheta’ mafia. She is flabbergasted by the violence, the cruelty and the killings that Mafia men project – even youngsters are not spared. But instead of targeting the men, Vittoria tries a new approach; an appeal to the women involved in these circles. The bosses’ wives are as hard as nails; they will not talk and will not betray their powerful husbands, but could it be they have a soft spot for their own children?

A quiet provincial town is shaken by the murder of its parish priest. The young Father Francesco (Gabriel Garko), who is called to replace him, after an initial moment of calm, finds himself faced with the confession of a stranger, who admits to having killed his predecessor, threatening him not to say anything if he does not want to lose his life as well. The priest, therefore, follows the investigations of Commissioner Lariano (Lorenzo Flaherty) and, while revealing nothing, tries to prevent an innocent person from being accused of a crime they did not commit and begins to uncover the secrets of various important figures in the province. Complicating matters is the arrival of a young prostitute who resembles Father Francesco's great love before he took his vows. This is how the present and the past intertwine, amid crimes and murky discoveries.

Who Killed the Prosecutor and Why?

Carlo, a young photographer, is making love with his girlfriend at the beach when he witnesses a murder being feebly staged to look like a car accident. Carlo takes incriminating shots of the murderers (the victim turns out to be the local public prosecutor) and attempts to sell them to various interested parties, including a gangster and a newspaper owner. One of the murderers' accomplices, a lowlife criminal, is gunned down by a black-gloved assassin, while another is stabbed to death...
