The First Major Case

"The First Major Case" is a historical drama based on the first major anti-corruption case in the People's Republic of China. Set in 1951, the story follows counter-espionage officer Chen Huaibang, who uncovers the shocking corruption of Liu Qingshan, a former revolutionary hero turned corrupt official. Despite their past, Chen stays true to justice, bringing Liu and his accomplice Zhang Zishan to trial. The film highlights Chen's battle of wits with Liu, Zhang, and the enemy spy known as "Qingmang."

Judas, a seasoned thief, finds himself in the market square where Christ is giving a sermon and his apostles are collecting alms. He follows them and steals their money, only to be caught red-handed. Shocked by Christ’s unexpected offer, Judas decides to join the apostles, if only to figure out what is going on. He gradually starts to comprehend Christ’s message, but feels that the apostles are blindly following their teacher. Judas argues with them, and tries to defend his right to divine the truth of God. But when he fails to make them understand, he realizes that Christ’s teachings may sink into oblivion without benefiting humanity. His solution is to betray Christ. “By killing a man, have I not saved a God?”

Goltzius and the Pelican Company tells the story of Hendrik Goltzius, a late 16th century Dutch printer and engraver of erotic prints. A contemporary of Rembrandt and, indeed, more celebrated during his life, Goltzius seduces the Margrave of Alsace into paying for a printing press to make and publish illustrated books. In return, he promises him an extraordinary book of pictures of illustrating the Old Testament’s biblical stories.
