An old 35mm film projector was entirely disassembled, a mould was made of every part, a bronze copy was then created and the bronze parts were subsequently assembled. The whole process was filmed, to then be projected by the new, bronze projector. The observation that a projector projects the process of its own creation goes beyond a purely conceptual statement. This project is simultaneously an ode to craftsmanship and to how that changed radically over the course of the 20th century. The precise type of projector, the Iskra NP-21, also calls a complete history to mind, as Iskra was as omnipresent in Tito’s post-war Yugoslavia as Bosch and Miele in the West. In this manner, what is perhaps the very last, ultimate 35mm projector simultaneously becomes the first fully-fledged monument to a culturally supremely important device.
It is one of the greatest mysteries of all time: the whereabouts of Jesus between the ages of 12 and 30. There is a blank space in the record that covers eighteen years in the life of Christ (from age 12 to 30). Other than the generic allusion that Jesus advanced in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52), the Bible gives nothing more about Jesus' life during this time span. A common assumption amongst Christians is that Jesus simply lived in Nazareth during that period, but there are various accounts that present other scenarios, including travels to India. Today, scholars are forming a clearer picture of his life by re-examining stories in the New Testament gospels and connecting them with new archeological discoveries. A narrative rich in details and subtle clues begins to emerge. Go back to Nazareth in 6 A.D. to learn more about the blue-collar village, its oppressed inhabitants and abusive Roman rulers to see how it shaped Jesus personality and beliefs.

Filmed across the arid Atacama Desert–where the mining of precious metals and the recent privatization of the water industry threatens the stability of the local ecosystem–and in the fluorescent haze of a healing ceremony performed in an LED-lit, rose-filled shamanic shrine, Eyes of Plants portrays contemporary life as a contact zone: between myth and technology, desert culture and global capital, the sick body and the over-extracted earth. The starting point for the video is a jarro pato, a pre-Columbian duck-shaped ceramic vase belonging to the Diaguita people of Northern Chile and Argentina, often depicted with tears streaming from its eyes. Later supplanted by other technologies of sight and perception, including a blinking drone that surveilles from the sky and the green glowing eyes of a USB-powered face mask, the jarro pato figures into a new mythology of an evolving present–one informed by both spiritualism and capitalism.
