It can only be their choice after they have seen your work." Since 2014, due to health reasons, Hu Jie has not been actively making documentaries. Circa late 1930s, Boat Quay, Singapore. A young boy receives an old violin as a gift out of kindness from a foreign trader. From then on, it becomes a treasured possession as he teaches himself to play the instrument over several years, until it was lost during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore. After the war, the violin was found by a man working for the British Military Administration and given to his young daughter. The girl learns to play it and becomes a renowned violinist over the decades. She eventually passes the instrument on to her grandson, an accomplished violinist himself, who restores it and performs in a concert by the Singapore River, where the violin started its unexpected journey nearly 80 years ago.

The buddhist sutra educational film, 'The Shurangama Righteousness', was produced by the Shi-Fang Leng Yan Academy of Rui Ji Si Monastery in Fujian, China. Made in 2015 -2017, the film is based on the chinese Mahayana buddhist text, the 'Sutra of the Foremost Shurangama'. It opens with the transmission of the Sutra from India to China by the Elder Monk, Master Paramiti, during the Tang Dynasty, and its translation from sanskrit to chinese at a monastery in Guangzhou, China. The translators' dialogue in the film forms the narrative backdrop for unfolding the story of Ananda's predicament involving a Matanga woman, how he was later rescued by the Buddha with the power of the Shurangama Mantra, and Buddha instructing on the way to ulimate enlightenment (First chapter of the Sutra)...

CG Animation Short Film "The Legend of Shangri-la" is adapted from the poem of the same title by the famous poet Tao Yuan Ming of Dong Jin Dynasty over 1000 years ago. By applying Chinese traditional painting techniques and papercutting to CG, IDMT created this unique animation film with the style and movement of Shan-Xi shadow puppet show. The combination results in this original 3D CG short film with its unique visual style. It tranquilly depicts Peach Blossom Valley (known to the western culture as Shangri-La), the earthly paradise, in Dong Jin people's mind and their desire to return to happy and harmonic life.
