The Third, Pathetic

The main character is the chekist Fyodor Dyatlov. He is in love with his friend Hippolytus' sister, the educated, intelligent Irina. At the same time, he harshly pursues the younger brother of Hippolytus and Irina Valerik. He is also a security officer, but in his youth he was tempted by a bribe. Fyodor investigates the case himself and puts Valerik in the hands of higher security officers. His possible happiness with Irina and his friendship with Hippolytus are at stake. But Fyodor is a real fanatic of the communist idea. For the sake of principles, he will do anything.

Rena, a decadent folk singer from Corfu, lives in Athens with her bouzouki musician brother Stratos, while her cousin Pepita di Corfu, is a major prima donna of popular tunes and lives in Rome with her fiancé Antonio. The shipowner Lampros Fokas, who had met Pepita years ago in Naples, invites her to a reception. She is unable to go, but a foxy agent presents Rena in her place. At first, the ruse is successful, and Fokas is charmed by Pepita-Rena. The things are getting complicated, however, when Pepita comes to Greece on vacation.

Knocked unconscious by the killer he fought and prevented from carrying out his crime, Roger regains his senses, comfortably installed in the living-room of an old colonel, Colonel Van Booren.

The Phantom of Morrisville

Inspector Brumpby (Jaroslav Marvan) and the young crime reporter Allan Pinkerton (Vít Olmer) attend wedding of Sir Hannibal Morris (Oldrich Nový) with beautiful Clarence (Kveta Fialová). After the ceremony, Clarence's ex-husband, criminal Manuel Diaz (Waldemar Matuska), who was believed dead, shows up in her room. He wants to get his hands on Clarence and, most importantly, on the money she would inherit in the eventuality of her new husband's death. Diaz makes attempts on Hannibal's life. He knows his way about an underground labyrinth in the château and the traps he sets up for Hannibal seem to work, since Hannibal is apparently found dead after an explosion in the labyrinth, after which his body vanishes. The inspector tries to solve the countless mysteries. In this, he is joined by Allan, always ahead of the man of the law in his estimation and judgment of the situation.

Marvin Swift is a nebbishy schmuck who’s "a total failure at everything." Fired from his job at a brassiere factory, he then gets into a pointless argument with his sexy but ditzy fiancee who tells him to go to hell. Instead, he does the next best thing. He meets the devil in a boiler room. And the devil’s a she. A very sexy she named Lucibel sans the traditional horns and pointy tail because "that’s terribly passé, today its mod." Touched that Marvin is such a screw-up, she offers to help him but not, she says, because she wants his soul, but because she wants to make him happy. So she grants him a wish with no strings attached.

Bessie Beary complains she is tired of always having to do the housework. Charlie offers to take care of things while she goes to the beauty parlor. Bessie, with good reason, does not trust Charlie and advises Goose to keep an eye out. Sure enough, Charlie does his chores as sloppily as possible leaving Goose to head over to the beauty parlor to tattle to Bessie who berates Charlie over the phone. Charlie soon discovers what a snitch Goose is and tries to "close that big beak".
