Miles Jupp: On I Bang

Since Miles' last tour finished, he's been in The Full Monty on Disney+, The Durrells and Why Didn't They Ask Evans? on ITV, as well as a heap of episodes of Frankie Boyle's New World Order and Have I Got News For You. He's made an award-winning radio series and he's published a novel. But for Covid, he would have played a lead at the RSC. Hey ho. Nevertheless he's done a play in the West End and played the Emperor of Austria and Europe in a Ridley Scott film. Yet one sunny day in the middle of all this, he suddenly suffered a brain seizure. This led to the discovery of a tumour the size of a cherry tomato, and a rather pressing need to undergo major neurosurgery. Obviously, one doesn't wish to make a big deal of it, but the experience has left him with a story to tell and a few things that he'd like to share with the room. So that's exactly what he's doing in his new show On I Bang - a tale about surprise, fear, luck, love and qualified medical practitioners."

Andrey Ayrapetov: Pick-Me Nihilism

“Pick-Me Nihilism” was originally meant to be a mixtape of jokes that just wouldn’t fit into another special, but it turned into a very cohesive, solid, and funny piece of work! Vibe-wise, it’s closer to “40 Minutes of Sex With Yourself” — which is my favorite special of all time. Same relaxed feel, sometimes silly, no pretensions — just jokes on all kinds of topics. I also like that some of the material here is downright stupid or gross, with no attempts at turning it into theater, orchestras, or high drama. No Tarkovsky — just pure stand-up!

Kanan Gill : What Is This? (also Original)

I recorded this video a week after filming the special, just because it was the last show of the tour. It's quite different in feeling and form compared to the version of the special (confusingly listed as 'What is This? - Original' on this channel). While filming a special I focus on precision and performance, that is doing the show exactly as written and capturing the show as I first conceived it. Live shows on the other hand are also informed by their context —where is this, what time is it, how are you feeling, how am I feeling, is the room too cold, was traffic awful, did someone leave to go to the loo?, etc. This show captures a little more of the regular live experience of performing a stand up show. It's looser, and more tied to the show that day instead of the special-special which aims to capture the show out of time. I hope this isn't confusing. I'm quite confused writing it.
