It Kinda Scares Me

It Kinda Scares Me is a documentary about a drama coach and the “delinquent” boys he teaches. In their world, bravado is everything and Friday nights are for getting into fights. Tomer Heymann, both filmmaker and drama coach, encourages the boys to create something from their pain and marginalization, while they struggle in rehearsals to preserve their much-prized Israeli machismo. When Tomer announces to the group that he is gay, they are shocked, but his commitment to their play wins the day as they prepare for a performance that will give voice to the lives of disaffected Israeli youth.

Meher Negar

Meher Negar is an adaptation of the original work of Kazi Nazrul Islam under the same name. It’s a story about a novice singer Yusuf, who goes to a renowned master to learn more about music. In his dreams, he sees a beautiful girl named Meher Negar. While staying in his master’s house, one day while playing his flute, he encounters Meher Negar in real life, who was enchanted by his music. Both soon fall in love with each other. Reality however was harsh, as Meher is not an ordinary girl. Rather, she is the daughter of a popular Baijee Khurshid Jan. Her mother has been nurturing her so far only so she can one day be a proud Baijee just like her mother, an idea that Meher profoundly loathes. Torn between yearning for the love of the man she truly loves, to be with Yusuf forever, or upholding her mother’s wish, who raised her without any father — Meher has the chance to choose only one option. What will she do?

The Final Night of the Royal Hong Kong Police

The film consists of two police stories. Both of them happened within the last few days prior to the Hong Kong Handover in 1997. Part 1 - One Body Two Flags is about two middle age cops on the way to the airport, looking back on Hong Kong and at their own lives. It explores the bomb issues during the 1967 Hong Kong Riot, and the police uprising against the anti-corruption agency, ICAC, in 1978. Part 2 - The 5th depicts the turbulent love relationship between a young traffic police and his pro-democracy activist girlfriend amid the major political movement in 1989, and the 1997Hong Kong Handover. The title came from Beethoven's 5th Symphony which was used by the police to drown out the demonstrations on that fateful night.
