Am Kölnberg

The tower block area "Am Kölnberg" has a bad reputation. People who - for any number of reasons - ended up on the edge of society, live here alongside refugee families and immigrants from all over the world. Unemployment, drug abuse and prostitution are part of everyday life for many of them. The film accompanies 4 people over a period of two years and portrays their life at "Kölnberg" with ups and downs. One thing they all have in common: The dream of leading a fulfilled life, far away from "Kölnberg".

Waiting for Godot

“[…] ‘There are several common notions surrounding *Waiting for Godot*. It is often described as an absurd text, but to me, it seems lucid and coherent; what it seeks to convey is that human beings are absurd—irrational, eccentric, contradictory, arbitrary, and nonsensical. For Sanzol, humor is one of the fundamental elements of *Waiting for Godot*. ‘It is one of the reasons I wanted to stage this play. Beckett’s humor conveys compassion for the human being, yet it makes no compromises. It is stark. It is up to the audience to decide whether or not to laugh. It does not pander. Yet it is not an arrogant humor. It is a humor that fights for human dignity, doing so by revealing the indignity in human behavior. It is a multifaceted humor,’ concludes [Sanzol]. Tauerngold

Gold rush in the Salzburg mountains: After hearing rumours of new gold discoveries, the penniless Jakob Hirzbacher and his son Andris move to a village in the Hohe Tauern in the hope of finding work there. But there is no gold to be found in Gaisbach. The newcomers are met with great hostility by the village population and can only find refuge in a barracks camp in the forest, where like-minded migrant workers wash gold in the rivers. Jakob finds employment with the beautiful Katharina Radacher, whose family used to dominate the gold mining industry in the region. He falls in love with Katharina, who is fighting against ruin and is forced to sell her mining rights by the corrupt mining councillor Hubert von Feileis. When Feileis realises that Jakob is standing in the way of his negotiations with Katharina, he has him chased out of the village in a devious manner.

A Gang Story

After growing up in a poor gypsy camp, Edmond Vidal, aka Momon, has retained a sense of family, unfailing loyalty and pride in his origins. Most of all, he has remained friends with Serge Suttel, with whom he first discovered prison life - for stealing cherries. The two of them inevitably got involved in organized crime. The team they formed, the Ganf Des Lyonnais, made them the most notorious armed robbers of the early 1970s. Their irresistible rise ended in 1974 with a spectacular arrest. Today, as he nears 60, Momon would like to forget that part of his life. He has found peace by retiring from the "business". He tends to his wife Janou, who suffered so in the past, and to his children and grandchildren, all of whom have great respect for this man of simple and universal values, so clear-headed and full of kindness. But then Serge Suttel, who has disowned nothing of his past, comes back into the picture.
