He shares a miserable home with her, she can tolerate his snoring, although she silently suffers, and tyrannizes him in her own way. Apparently, only death can separate them.

Vladimir, having fallen in love with Irina, wants to get rid of his connection with a married woman Elena. Elena's husband has been watching the lovers for a long time and the farewell date of Vladimir and Elena serves as an excuse for him to challenge his rival to a duel. During the duel Vladimir dies. Having learned about the death of her beloved, Irina dies of a heart attack. Her mother, left all alone, mourns her daughter's death bitterly.

The action of the film takes place in the post-war years, when a particularly dangerous gang of criminals "Black Mask" operated on the territory of Yakutia under the leadership of a former circus performer, strongman Ivan. Another strongman, senior police lieutenant Gavril Desyatkin, was ordered to neutralize the criminals. The film is based on the novel of the same name by the famous Yakut writer Egor Neimokhov and is based on real events that took place in Yakutia.
