Tara: Forbidden Pleasures

Sonia, a wealthy and mature woman, lives alone on a farm in a region that is being ravaged by a gang of violent bandits. Despite this, she refuses to take any steps to increase her security and even takes in Helena, the daughter of her fiancé Alfredo, who has had a serious falling out with her father. Alfredo, who also has a country house in the same area, follows his daughter, unaware that she and Sonia are in a lesbian relationship. At the same time, increasingly cornered by the police, the bandits take desperate action, raping Sonia, beating Alfredo and murdering one of Helena's friends.

Late on the Planet

A boy feels the shadow of an irreversible environmental catastrophe drawing near. In the quiet of his backyard, he chooses to spend the last day before the world transforms beyond recognition alongside his mother. There, he witnesses the signs — the unrest of animals, the uprising of plants — while confronting the imminence of loss: not only the loss of a future he once imagined, but also the fragile bond that ties him to this woman and to this place. Guided by poetry, Late on the Planet is a meditation on the weight we give to the idea of finitude and on our precarious relationship with the more-than-human world. Inspired by the novel of the same name by Leonardo Piana.

Dentro da Caixinha – Mundo de Papel

The boy Lúcio is in the hospital with his mother (Alda) and sister (Zulma) when he receives an unusual visit from his grandmother Neusa, from the films “Dentro da Caixinha”, dressed as a clown. Doctor Parafina lends a mysterious little box that, when opened, transports Lúcio and his family to the Sertão da Memória, a fantastic place inhabited by characters from children’s songs, such as Mulher Rendeira, Mestre André and Marinheiro Só. However, the presence of the children in the forgotten world of old songs revives hope and awakens, in all the inhabitants, the desire for them to stay inside the box forever.

Crazy Love

Bressane's second London film, shot in six days in his apartment. "I had seen the French avant-garde films of the 1920's and naturally the title cites Breton. But underneath it can also be read in many ways. It is a cinema that is invented on the spur of the moment, like you invent an instrument to play music and then abandon it. This film came out like an improvisation, a total risk. It is a deconstruction of meaning but not in the analytical, intellectual sense. I have always tried to lose myself with my films. There is no trace of American or French underground cinema. If anything, it is the idea of home movies, there were many ideas for digital films long before digital film existed. This film made itself, it was like a jazz improvisation. Amor Louco is a lost object, it doesn't speak any language, it has no signs, no letters, no captions. And in the scene where the cataract is cut with the razor blade, it was the adventure of the film itself that was put to the test".
