Crazy Moon

Brooks is an eccentric rich kid, with a fondness for big band music, bow ties taking strange photographs who one day whilst stealing a mannequin from a clothes store, meets Anne, a free-spirited, young deaf girl who works in the shop. It's a meeting that will transform his life. As their friendship blossoms he starts to learn sign-language and she helps him to conquer his fear of water but with a bullying brother, insensitive overbearing father and his father's peculiar new girlfriend all pressurising him to be 'normal' will Brooks be able to break free from their boundaries and his own fears and limitations to find the meaning of true and selfless love.

Sinta's father is dying. On his insistence, Sinta has to marry Roni, though she actually prefers Ricky. Initially, Sinta is grateful to have a husband who is willing to sacrifice for her father's hospital treatment. But Roni turns out to be a pimp, and Sinta is used and sold as a call girl aka “gadis telepon”. The situation becomes intolerable, when Roni's secret is revealed, that he has compromised other girls like Sinta. Sinta stabs her husband. Sinta repents her action in prison.

This heroic story follows the life of Karol Wojtyla, a Polish Roman catholic who ascends the throne of St. Peter as Pope John Paul II. As a young boy, Karol is a bright and talented student. Archbishop Sapieha recognizes the very special, moving qualities Karol possesses and encourages him to consider the priesthood. Although determined to study Polish literature, Karol turns to the church; he is ordained and studies in Italy, France, and Belgium. Torn by fear and repression in post-Stalin Eastern Europe, Karol becomes a poisonous thorn in the communists' side. His deer reverence and commitment return him to Poland as Pope John Paul II.

Based on Zhou Keqin's excellent novel, Xu Mao and His Daughters weaves a story about the life and sufferings of Xu Mao, an aging peasant and his four daughters in the countryside during the Cultural Revolution. They struggle to make ends meet since his wife's death. Preoccupied with worries, he loses touch with his maturing daughters. It takes the stubborn but kindly intervention of a woman making a governmental inspection tour to cause father and daughters to appreciate their loving family.

Hendro, Diana’s father, does not approve of her romance with Bije, and wants to marry Tony. Then Diana runs away with Bije to a small village where Diana’s aunt lives. This infuriates Hendro and he orders his men to capture Bije. Eventually, Bije and Diana return. When Diana is at home, she feels pain in her abdomen, and she is diagnosed of having a malignant cancer in her ulcer and won’t live long. Hendro even apologises to Bije’s father, but the latter refuses him. Bije even begs to his father to apologise to Hendro, but instead, Bije is thrown out of the house. Eventually Bije and Diana get married, but before the honeymoon ends, Diana passes away on Bije’s lap.

A German journalist on the run from mobsters in New York embarks on a road trip across the United States, picking up a female auto mechanic on the run, before his past catches up with him. Shot in 16mm by Egyptian-born director Degas using local crews, a mix of professional and amateur performers, and rural landscapes as a backdrop, this lesser-known No Wave feature comes from a school of New York independent filmmaking inspired by Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Wim Wenders.
