The Road of Life

The train goes to Moscow. In the same carriage with the railway workers who are going to the meeting, there is a Chinese writer collecting material for his future novel about the people of Soviet Kazakhstan. He discovers an old newspaper in his archive. The newspaper contains photos of the best drummers — builders of Turksib: Ospan, Hakim, Boris, Hadisha and others. They turn out to be the writer's neighbors on the car — yesterday's ordinary workers, builders, now the most prominent statesmen, heads of railways. At the request of the writer, Ospan tells a touching story of their life and love.

In chronological order of the Niskavuori series, the film is the fourth. Burlesque film. Leon De Voe sings "Ridin' Shotgun," accompanied by Loretta Miller and a chorus line. Slats Taylor and Clyde Hodges perform a comedy sketch about a young man seeking permission from an aged, deaf father to marry his daughter. Contessa Vera Richkova sings "La nuit pour moi" and performing an dance titled "The Black Angel." De Voe returns with the chorus and Miller to present "Good Bye Mary." Comedian Clyde Hodges portrays a drunk in a foreign restaurant, then dons blackface to impersonate male and female singers as he sings "Big Fat Cadillac." Patti Waggin sings "Something's Going to Happen" to De Voe, who responds with the song "My Baby Likes Fun." Richkova returns in "her spectacular dance ritual of seductive love and hate." The film closes with Lili St Cyr undressing to take a bath and preparing for bed.

The Other Woman

Bit player Sherry Stewart gets miffed when director Walter Darman turns her down after she reads for a small part in his picture. She and her boy friend, Ronnie, devise a plan to lure Darman to her apartment, where she gives him a drugged drink. She tells Darman they had been intimate and blackmails him for $50,000. More than a little distracted by his situation, his wife senses something is wrong and he gets into a violent argument with his father-in-law who owns the producing company Darman works for, and discontinues the picture. Sherry informs Darman she is going to tell his wife all about them. Darman tells his secretary that he is going to work late and is not to be disturbed, sets the moviola runnings, and exits by the back door and hot-foots it to Sherry's apartment.
