Xu’s Little Lover I

Jack Xu is an over-the-hill novelist living in a big city in China. He’s just had a divorce and his new novel has been put in mothballs. Jack is distraught and going through middle-age crisis. At this juncture, his ex-wife’s young cousin,Wang Zizi, a beautiful high school graduate turns up in his life. She has been adimtted to a college in the city. At first, Jack regards the cousin-in-law as a burden his ex-wife inflicts on him until she can stood on her own feet in the city. However, one thing leads to another, Wang falls under Jack’s spell as she develops a soft spot for the sore loser. On Jack’s part, though consciously unawere of it, for the first time in a long while, he finds something he can be occupied with and a little solace in his otherwise chaotic life. But in the meantime, another crisis is being bred.

The story takes place in Macao as the gambling industry just starts to bloom again in the city. Two brothers who could no longer endure poverty decide to go to Macau to make a quick buck. Yang (played by Winslow Chan) hates his job as betting agent because he needs to collect debts or engage in immoral behaviour. Not until he encounters Carmen (played by Kate Leong) does Yang’s life change. As they start to know each other better, Yang suddenly needs to take on the huge debt of his brother Fong (played by Leo Chu). The only solution is to run. Yang and Carmen start to realize the distance between them, and that they inhabit entirely different worlds, although both physically live in Macao. A few years later, on a quiet afternoon, Yang tells his mother about the Macao story, hoping to find some traces of her in his memories...

It is also in this year that Xia Gu and Amber Zheng, two lesbian lovers, choose to adopt the 10-year-old Ellie from the orphanage. In the early years of the Republic of China, the Aoi family in Japan has been plagued by a curse for generations. To change their family's fate, Aoi travels to China in search of the legendary Lu Ban Axe. Upon learning of this, Xu Mochen, Chu Han, Zhou Dasheng, and other descendants of the Five Dragon Seekers prepare to stop Aoi from entering the underground palace. However, they are repeatedly threatened by Aoi's subordinates, Tia and Hu Jiu, and obstructed by the Four Ghosts of Mount Li. To better protect the cultural relics, Xu Mochen and his companions follow Aoi into the underground palace, a century-old, immortal, and exquisitely crafted place. It is here that Xu Mochen and his companions begin their battle with Aoi.
