Our story peeks in on these two boys, and we have a chance to look on as they grow.

This was an animated promotional video that Falcom commissioned for Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys game for PC Engine, to shop around to various production houses. This was done in hopes of getting it made into a full-scale animated series/movie/etc., but it never panned out.

Each verse, as they get repeated and recited, they fulfil their destiny and later crystallise to become LILITA.AL. It is somewhat similar to how human decompose after death, but it’s more about the spirit －spirit of the syllables- that sublime and skeletonize… A verse may forfeit its life, but the spirit returns home with the wind, and wait for destined rebirth.

Momotaro was an Edo-era folk hero repurposed in the 1930s to align with Japan’s more nationalist viewpoint.  Here, Momotaro seeks revenge on an eagle that disturbed a group of peaceful penguins.

Filmed February/March 2019 on a single 40 year old cartridge of Kodachrome Super 8 and hand-developed in Caffenol. The film was heavily fogged, but there are some (real) images.

The story about a Palestinian girl who feeds animals at the zoo.

This is the first animation I made for a university class when I was around 21 years old. I cut up pieces of black paper and pasted them one by one on a white wall, then filmed them. I traced a photo book by Eadweard Muybridge to create the material. It was made on 8mm film. The background music uses some of the soundtrack from the film "Ragtime." I created it with the sole focus of matching the music to the movement of the pictures and the scene changes. It is a memorable work for me.

It would be hard for anyone to imagine the combination of a mother and a telegraph pole. How could such a thing be possible? The image of the telegraph pole raising her child using cables in place of arms and legs is quite charming. The spirit of the producer who made such a wild idea into a film is also quite charming.

A short kaleidoscopic homage to Norman McLaren from Japanese artists Mirai Mizue and Yukie Nakauchi on the 100th anniversary of birth in 2014.

This woman has detached herself from the outside world. For her, it is daily work to feed her bird and to look at the town from her window. Because she doesn’t go out, she does not even put on clothes. However, this daily life has ended. She has run out of the cornflakes that she eats every day. As we get up in the morning and put on clothes, we are alive in a social system. Nobody understands whether it is the correct world. However, even if you escape from the system, the day you have to return will come.

The film is made with the Surrealist game ‘exquisite corpse’ as its core methodology. Pictures are. . . drawn repeatedly. After several days [he] forgets the images he has drawn himself. Through the accumulation of coincidences and contiguities the act of ‘combining the forgotten images together’ generates interstices, and finally this play gets its own rhythm and opens itself like a window through with the sunlight streams.

The blue evolves. The blue rises toward the upper world. The blue becomes green and then yellow, which makes things unstable. So red circle appears to bring into balance between blue and yellow. These three colours unite into one, [rising] until the summit, over the boundary line, and becomes a white circle to a full stop. And then it returns to the first state.

The film is about the water cycle. Each of the rain drops transform. . . as they follow the cycle of nature, uniting with each other, parting, or being absorbed in the course of their journey

Things are kind of crappy right now. In Japanese, we say "hanakuso (nose snot)" instead of crap, though. Here's a dose of hope and giggles.

It will broadcast as part of a special program entitled "Atsushi Itō's Saudia Arabia Anime Travel Journal", a TV special which will run at 4:00PM JST on May 20, 2018.

One day a girl who lives in a southern island dropped her precious anklet in the sea. A boy picked it up is having magical power. It is a warm and nostalgic story of a friendship between them depicted through an anklet in the beautiful and harsh ocean.

In Run & Run, Yukari breathes hard and races fast - to nowhere. A Jellyfish Day finds the blonde bombshell Hikary starring in a music video about her private passions. Ryoko inhabits Yamag's Garage, an arena of "Pure Mind," "Love," and a very "Beautiful Face." And Misty mesmerizes in a music video in which she brags: "I'm your magnet of love, and I'm here to serve you."
