Framing the Self

"Framing the Self" is a multimedia platform for developing an aporetic dialogue between the two basic figures of a movie: the director and his character. They engage in a real conversation between the cinematic language and the animation, questioning the essence of individuality through a non-linear narration. The rules of language slowly lose their validity, being substituted by the principle of doubt. The character will see her individuality breaking apart, progressively exploding into an infinite multiplicity.

30 Years of Darkness

When the Spanish Civil War came to an end, Manuel Cortes was unable to flee the country. After a long journey, he managed to get back home in the dark without being discovered. His wife, Juliana, told him how the winning forces were shooting many of their fellow citizens. Manuel and Juliana decided to dig a small hole in the wall for Manuel to hide in. He could not even begin to imagine that this small hideaway was to become his private jail for the following 30 years. This is the story of the so-called post-war moles, people who had to put their lives on hold in order to escape from the repression imposed by the victors of the civil war.

Gainsbourg, rue de Verneuil

Others have told his story. Biographies, ex-wives or ex-friends talking about him in various themed documentaries, Gainsbourg never lost the spotlight, as if he had died just a few months ago, in a never-ending cycle of life... But never before had her story been told in her own words, rocky, moving, provocative. Thanks to Christian Fevret, founder of Les Inrockuptibles, Serge Gainsbourg recorded the story of his life on audiocassette, for a 7-hour interview conducted in the secluded confines of his Paris home, 5 bis rue de Verneuil, in 1990. Throughout the interview, Serge Gainsbourg never loses his sense of humor or his distance from a life he knows he has lost sight of.

Martin Cries

Martin cries. He is alone. He woke up in the morning and all his friends were gone. Disappeared. Just not there. He sets off to look for them. And he searches everywhere, in the city, in the mountains, in the rivers, but he doesn’t find them. That makes him furious. Really furious – really sad. Rage, violence, longing, loneliness. Without fear of great feelings, without fear of one's own courage and without fear of violence, Jonathan Vinel tells a story of love and loss entirely based on elements from the computer game Grand Theft Auto V – beyond all kinds of tawdry notions and with extremely concrete physicality.
