Somewhere between calligraphy, embryology and words from beyond the grave, a convulsive poem wraps itself around the Japanese syllable ‘da’ – a breath that could just as well be the first as the last.

The story is centered on a family living in a small village that consist of a man named Hikobei, his wife, and three daughters where a Gecko witnesses the three daughter acting so selfish and always fighting over trivial things causing it to become upset and start to blacken until the youngest daughter accidentally kills when she was pushed and fell on it. One night the dead gecko slips into the water supply where the youngest daughter unsuspectingly swallows and slowly transform into a Gecko, but that is only the beginning as each night one family member would be turned into and become a gecko.

This comic style animation tells seven short stories: A Feast for Armpit Hair, A Coin's Memory, Cooking, From the Telephone, A Doctor's Hobby, I Eat a Star, The Sea is Coming.

People can show some other personality when eating. Some become like herbivores, chewing so many times. Some becomes like carp, crowing around bait. Some become like hamsters, with their mouths full, etc. Everyone is unique and worth observation.

In Japan, there are many customs, folk tales, and legends unique to each region. This animation is based on a story told by a potter in Nagata-nasa, Mimata-cho, Miyazaki Prefecture, where there are many legends of kappa (water imps), narrated by the potter himself. The artist was kind enough to share some of the ash from the local Mt. Shinmoe volcano, which he also uses as a material for his pottery. This animation was filmed with drawing pictures on a glass table using the volcanic ashes.

Toei Animation posted a two-hour, English-subtitled compilation film titled for the KADO - The Right Answer television anime series on YouTube on Tuesday May 22 2018. The film is listed as the anime's "episode 12.5" and has the title KADO: Beyond Information. The video will be available until June 4 at 10:00 a.m. JST. (ANN)

I videotaped materials collected during fieldwork on the theme of stripes, printed them out on a video printer, and then animated them. This is why the images are grainy. I wasn't satisfied with the final result, so I kept it unreleased until now. In uploading it to YouTube, I selected and re-edited only the cuts that I deemed watchable. I cut out all the unnecessary parts, so the length of the work is quite short. The background music is Japanese festival music.
