In his film work from the early 1980s, the artist used an Apple computer hooked up to a laser disc player. He scratched the laser disc, creating a stammering image, and a disconnection between time and space.

In the final months of World War II, 14-year-old Seita and his sister Setsuko are orphaned when their mother is killed during an air raid in Kobe, Japan. After a falling out with their aunt, they move into an abandoned bomb shelter. With no surviving relatives and their emergency rations depleted, Seita and Setsuko struggle to survive.

This is a stop-motion animation created from 5,000 meticulously crafted drawings, developed over several years, in which humans, animals, and mythological creatures are constantly transforming. Influenced by Eastern mysticism, this animation is the result of a reflection on the concept of Yin and Yang duality, which posits that all things possess opposing characteristics originating from the same core and are therefore inseparable.
