Please Save My Earth: To Rin-kun, from Alice

The film “To Rin-kun, from Alice” is essentially a summary of the six OVAs, narrated from Alice’s point of view. We see a more mature Alice strolling through a large park filled with cherry blossoms, reflecting on events from years past. At the end of the film, it’s revealed that she had arranged to meet Rin there. Although most of the film contains scenes already seen in the OVAs, a new scene from volume 21 of the manga is added near the end, providing a more definitive conclusion to the story.

The Sniffing Bear

This animated film uses the Arctic landscape and the traditional Inuit characters of the Bear, the Seal and the Owl to raise young people's awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse. A polar bear experiences hallucinations after inhaling fumes from an abandoned gas can. A nearby owl and seal help to show the bear the error of his ways, thus preventing him from falling further into addiction. This film was an initiative of the Natives of the Institution La Macaza to warn children of the dangers of inhaling toxic chemicals.

Scant Sanity

An exploration into the nature of the mind, the brain and reality. A person seeking job counselling receives psychiatric treatment instead, and thereupon becomes convinced of the reality of his own internal world. This may be the tale of an abused student, or the bizarre and unlikely reminiscences of an aging cowboy. On the other hand, it could be the musings of a bored actuary. By presenting the life of the filmmaker as multiple levels of insanity, this film challenges the commonsense interpretation of the universe.

The Garden: 21st Century Amateur Film

Everything in this world follows the movement of a child, i.e. in a virtual manner with an optical angle of 360 degrees. In this way, the concept of linear perspective we have had since the Renaissance is replaced by a new system of perspective, the ‘water-drop perspective-system'. Question: is this film a sort of two-dimensional virtual reality? Answer: no, virtual reality means that we construct our artificial world. I am much more interested in the surrounding real world. In this case, it is the world of my daughter. - Tamás Waliczky
