Bernadette: The Princess of Lourdes

It’s February 11, 1858. Three girls from Lourdes, France, gather firewood in front of a grotto. Suddenly one of them, Bernadette Soubirous, 14, drops to her knees, gazes ecstatically at something beautiful only she can see, and starts to pray. Soon the town buzzes: Has Bernadette, poor, sickly, and always behind in school, really seen a Lady from Heaven? Then a spring bubbles up from nowhere and withered arms and sightless eyes are cured. At last, the Lady tells Bernadette her name: “I am The Immaculate Concepcion.” BERNADETTE, THE PRINCESS OF LOURDES, is the exciting true story of a visit by the Queen of Heaven that left the entire world a source of health for body and soul.

Seasons Greetings

This visual postcard wishes its viewers a Happy Christmas and other good wishes one sends on a joyous occasion such as the holidays. However, this video postcard starts out with an idyllic winter scene soon transgresses into a bizarre series of appearances of a fish spitting out words, an elephant who appears to be half made out of jelly playing with a ball. All these add to the strange atmosphere of Mulloy’s Christmas card. Mulloy was inspired by the financial crisis to depict a bleak winter.

Garden of Regrets

Garden of Regrets is an experiment in making a film that feels as if it has percolated up from the subconscious; a dream you can watch with your eyes open. It’s one of those big cathartic dreams, a labyrinth of fleeting moments full of metaphor and mischief. I wanted it to feel like a bumpy roller coaster ride in and out of the dark side of the brain where discomforting images are stored away. And, as with all dreams, the meaning and significance are open to interpretation.

Strawberries Under the Snow

Two girls grew up in one family. One, named O-Tiyo, was a hard worker, she did everything around the house, fetched water, watered plants, carried firewood. And the other girl, O-Hana, was just sleeping, relaxing and enjoying life. And one winter the lazy woman wanted strawberries. They kicked the hard worker out into the street so she could get the desired berries. The girl was helped by a kind old mountain spirit - he created summer in the middle of winter so that O-Chiyo could pick strawberries for her sister. But she suddenly developed a new quirk - to try blue strawberries. Once again O-Chiyo was sent into the forest, and again the old spirit helped her find strawberries. But when O-Hana and her mother ate blue berries, they... turned into foxes. Based on a Japanese folk tale.
