Polska Kronika Non-Camerowa nr 6 1983 Wydanie B

The sixth edition of the news chronicle. This time, the author reflects on the reasons for the nation's "deflation," reports on the state of national gastronomy, providing a recipe for "crisis" pizza, and advertises a new type of car, the "Siwek Tarpan Lux." In the "do it yourself" section, he advises on how to make shoes and T-shirts. He also advises on how to hide signs of luxury. The cultural chronicle is devoted to the festival in Oberhausen and its leading slogan "the road to the neighbor," without giving up on current commentary on political topics.

The Dante Quartet

A visual representation, in four parts, of one man's internalization of "The Divine Comedy." Hell is a series of multicolored brush strokes against a white background; the speed of the changing images varies. "Hell Spit Flexion," or springing out of Hell, is on smaller film stock, taking the center of the frame. Montages of color move rapidly with a star and the edge of a lighted moon briefly visible. Purgation is back to full frame; blurs of color occasionally slow down then freeze. From time to time, an image, such as a window or a face, is distinguishable for a moment. In "existence is song," colors swirl then flash in and out of view. Behind the vivid colors are momentary glimpses of volcanic activity.

Starlife

This visually spectacular and instructive film traces the evolution of a star from its birth in the depths of a black nebula to its final extinction. Animated drawings, recreating the beauty and immensity of the universe, are amplified by a dense narrative describing the differing evolutionary processes followed by stars of different masses. The film touches on the creation of elements in the core of stars, red giants, bursters, space-time relationships, and black holes. This animation film will be of particular interest to students of physics, chemistry, astronomy, and animation buffs.

Animus

This animated film borrows from the pre-cinematic imagery of Eadweard Muybridge in a self-referential mode. It takes the viewer to the early Edison days when moving images of a man walking or sneezing were a novelty. Schwartz combines those historical sequences with contemporary animation to comment on the progress of movie-making in the twentieth century. This "how-to animation" with its "tongue-in-cheek" mix of live action, animation and xerography serves as an introduction to the concept of structuralism.
