the_living is a project initiated and created by Debra Solomon that manifests itself in CU-SeeMe, software that enables online chat boxes with live video connections. Created in 1998, this groundbreaking work within digital art history was ahead of its time, fantasising of being online 24/7 and blurring the boundaries of the physical and the digital world.

This animated short is a parody of the Frankenstein story. Dr. Frankenstein creates a monster only to find out that his creation is too shy to go out and frighten anyone. The good doctor and his malevolent assistant Trevor try to find ways of helping their creation overcome his condition.

The film is about a woman chasing ideal beauty and deals with advertising manipulation, specifically dieting commercials. Striving to meet the ideal of ‘beauty’, she is lured by the appealing promises of advertising. While she tries one curious diet after the other, the viewer becomes aware of the unpleasant difference between illusion and reality.

Neulich 1 is the first part of a series of cinematic notes on everyday life.

William Latham was a figure that dominated computer art and animation in the UK through his use of 'evolutionary' algorithms. Working at this time in partnership with an IBM scientific research centre, Latham aimed at remodelling the entire creative process, 'mutating' the most startling yet controlled virtual sculptures that had so far been seen. This sequence was released on home video formats as well as screened at festivals.

Three 10-minute videos present a trippy view into the minds of their creators. Scientific Attack Force features three shorts done in very different styles. PLASTIC GUN MAN, a 3D Western spoof, WORLD MECCANO TRIANGLE, a music video reminiscent of '90s era screensavers. HAIIROGAOKA NO SORIDAIJIN (translated as "Prime Minister of Gray Hill"), an anime-style animated video parody of Akira Mochizuki's famous 1977 manga, Yuuhi ga Oka no Souri Daijin.
