Fish Out of Water

“Fish Out Of Water” is a short experimental animated movie. When the norms, traditions, customs and culture of the society are taken as the basis, there are individuals outside of them, they cannot adapt to the existing order and are labeled “misfit”. This is exactly the subject of this animation. “Fish Out Of Water”, whose main character is Osto, presents the society that caused the character's internal and external conflicts and the lost individual himself.

Centre-Sud Chronicles

From his shabby apartment in Montreal’s Centre-Sud borough, a writer finds inspiration in observing his neighbour Piton, who navigates poverty with some incredible ingenuity. Through this wildly funny pseudo-scientific allegory, graphic novelist turned filmmaker Richard Suicide draws us into the surreal, chaotic world of his book Chroniques du Centre-Sud, delivering a powerful portrait of a neighbourhood in the midst of a full-blown transformation. Produced by the NFB, this film is part of the Comic Strip Chronicles collection.

Kosberg Worked

The story of those who made possible the first human flight into space, but remained behind the scenes. The heroes of the film are Semyon Kosberg and other engineers who worked in the Voronezh design bureau on the third stage of the rocket engine, without which the Gagarin spacecraft would not have entered orbit on April 12, 1961. Memories of Viktor Skachilov, the only surviving member of Kosberg's team, and archive photos are intertwined with animation and an inspired soundtrack created specifically for the film. "Kosberg worked" is about hard work for the sake of a great dream, about scientific breakthroughs and people who do the incredible.

the gleaners, and: ritual for signaled bodies

A ritual for creating new worlds and situations for fragmented bodies, signals pass through the joints of animated and genderless bodies and body parts entangling the body-signal-actions both materially and conceptually as these control mechanisms interfere with pre-animated content. Perpetually shifting surfaces and skins serve as sites of projection and interference, contributing to the further "queering" of the state of these bodies and fragments that are stretched and submerged into and outside of the environment they inhabit, as they encounter desire, distress, and ritualized oscillations. Signals generate both sounds and compel movement, the making of the images, and the body further challenges the stability and integrity of the space in its otherworldliness and the spatial relationships it establishes with the audience. At the edge between crisis and satisfaction, the work adopts the role of Millet's own "gleaners," making-do on the boundary between sustenance and the devoid.

In Vivo

"In Vivo" is an assemblage of found footage. Doing doesn't provide much in the way of conventional context as to how these varied sources interrelate or how they should be read. But in editing them together at all, he asserts a radical subjectivity, an authorial presence that is autobiographical even when the images themselves are clearly borrowed from another vault. Doing positions himself, and the histories through which he has lived, within a much vaster narrative, implied through the other-realm textures of analogue footage as much as the actual content of his archival excerpts.
