T-Pose: To Dance with One's Hands

T-Pose is an intervention at the meeting point of games, dance, and choreography. The work presents a critical and creative performance of the habitual, ritualized movements of video games. Beginning with various sets of stock animations for games (shooting, swinging a sword, punching, etc.), T-Pose then situates these movements in a continuously-developing, infinitely variable, ritualistic dance. The procedural, contingent nature of the dance allows for the creative ‘drift’ between the written score (the tropes and animations) and the ritualized performance which differs each time.

The Old Lady's Camping Trip

In a lively animated lesson about the do's and don'ts of fire and outdoor safety, the Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe takes all her children and Cousin Jim off on a summer camping trip. And to make sure that needless accidents won't spoil their fun, she plays it smart by observing the rules. Cousin Jim, however, unaware of rules, has several close calls with disaster until the Old Lady steps in and teaches him the ABCs of safe, enjoyable outdoor living. When it comes to fire prevention, the Old Lady knows just what to do. Do you?

Objets-monde II

Objets-monde is interested in the traces that humans leave on the environment as well as the way in which these become an intrinsic part of our ecosystem. Abandoned objects, such as cars and computer screens, were captured with the help of photogrammetry to create a video collage composed of extracts from reality. Re-contextualized in disproportionately large proportions within landscapes seen from afar, these objects stand out like the ruins of monumental architecture. The absence of life as well as the luminous atmosphere of the work create a tension between apocalyptic feeling and nostalgia, between precious object and waste, between idealized nature and the indelible presence of human traces. These vestiges of the Anthropocene are deployed within an interactive installation in collaboration with Guillaume Arseneault, and a soundtrack composed by Roger Tellier-Craig. This is the single-channel version of the project.

The Reluctant Deckhand

Tess is ten years old--old enough to join her mother, Sue, for a summer's fishing in the northern waters off Vancouver Island on their boat the Henry Bay. However Tess is reluctant to go: she fears the stormy waters and would rather stay at home for the summer with her best friend, Candice. Tess does go, and with her goes Maa-mou the cat, a parting gift from Candice, as her lively companion. Together they rise to the challenges of life on a fishing boat, and thrill in the summer's unexpected pleasures.
