Egoli is a BAFTA nominated and International award winning animated film directed, animated and art worked by Karen Kelly. The film was inspired by Nelson Mandela and pays tribute to the South Africa gold miners who worked in harsh conditions in the days of apartheid.

Temple is a guided CGI tour through a ghostly nightclub of evacuated London: a space filled with ethereal dance anthems of the near future. Originally created for a site-specific installation at central London art space 180 The Strand, the video continues his series of virtual worlds that explore the role of memory in an age of simulation. For the exhibition, Lek made a physical version of Temple, the karaoke club originally featured in his feature-length CGI film ‘AIDOL’ (2019), where the fading popstar Diva plans her comeback with an AI ghostwriter. The soundtrack filled the neon-lit room, while screens displayed video game walkthroughs of a new subterranean tunnel that leads virtual ravers from Temple Tube Station to Diva’s club, through the burning rubbish bins of a future-wracked London. Referencing the Japanese meaning of kara-oke⁠—‘empty orchestra’⁠—Temple is a nightclub after the party ends; a place devoid of humans; a sonic architecture filled only with ghosts.

In Backcomb the demonic is unleashed on domestic space. It takes the form of two of femininity’s mildest tokens, hair and embroidery, that serve here in the creation of a sexualised surrealist experience. Within the claustrophobic space of a table-lay, a forceful and erectile mass of hair comes alive and slithers across its surface. The hair probes into vessels and punches through the cloth till finally order overturns and all smashes to the ground.

Set against beautiful watercolours of Norfolk, Emma Calder's film looks at Boudica the woman, what motivated her to keep her freedom and what her story means to us now, that we know so much more about her and her people from recent archaeology. The film shows Boudica and the Iceni tribe and their rebellion against the Romans in first century Britain. The film contrasts the worlds of the indigenous people and their Roman Invaders. In Boudica A Norfolk Story, The film contains all the key ideas about this very interesting period in British history whilst being attractive, playful and engaging for all ages.
