Unhappy and lonely, she sits in her gloomy witch apartment and is ashamed of her greedy behavior. Suddenly Santa is standing in front of her. He is not evil, but gives her a new witch broom and a red witch cat. So it happens that Hex' and Santa celebrate Christmas together and make music deep into the night.

Figures that inhabit a world of escalators pursue their desire to consume at a given rhythm. One of the figures is sucked in at the end of an escalator and finds itself in a quiet, weightless room where it joins a playing group. Meanwhile, the escalator world is thrown into confusion by a dog crazy about chips. When the dog is also sucked in by an escalator, a power struggle between the two worlds begins.

The setting is on a floating platform where a group of evenly and carefully placed men live. Each man is aware that the platform is not stable and in order not to fall to their deaths, they maintain a careful balance of weight to prevent the platform from tipping too far and cause them all to fall.

In ancient China, there is a poet named Lo who lives in the emperor’s palace. Based on their experiences living and working amongst Soviet-era concrete, panel-block apartments, the filmmaker, together with five visual artists, examine past and present attitudes towards their former homes. Combining touching, personal stories with experimental research on the history of twentieth-century art and architecture, the film creates both a compelling narrative, and a contemporary aesthetic of panel-block mass housing using original watercolors, put into motion using digital animation and stop-motion techniques. As global and personal histories interweave, the film explores notions of moral and political responsibility as evinced in physical space.
