Claws

Longley's graduate film, CLAWS, utilises cuts and collages of scanned recycled and archived print to bring the tale to life. The animation drew inspiration from iconic pop culture references, including the chase in JAWS and the playful antics between Tom and Jerry. The sound was designed by Alex George and nods to Henry Mancini’s theme for The Pink Panther. The animation’s goal was to combine a timeless narrative using classic 2D animation techniques and attentive craftsmanship. Through this work, Nim aimed to showcase her artistic vision while staying true to the essence of traditional animation.

Na Minha Época

In the city of Campo Grande/MS, a boy refuses to go to school because, after all, the game on his cell phone is much cooler than any class. At that moment, her grandmother intervenes and, based on her stories as a girl, demonstrates to this child what life was like in her time. Going to school was a challenge to be overcome. So wait! Was it an adventure? In Miguel's view, yes. From there, the gaze of an imaginative and adventurous child shapes the previously inhabited spaces of a city.

Six Thirty

A documentary film that brings testimonies taken just one week after the attack, from 7 different areas that were attacked in the events of Saturday, 10/7/23. The film is told from the point of view of the survivors. The evidence is unusually presented in the movie with the help of miniature models and animations that reinforce the hard evidence. The survivors share the survival experience they experienced during the long hours of the murderous terrorist attack. Those who ran away from the party, the houses they hid in, those who fought against the terrorists, and those who saved lives in the field. All with the choices they had to make in real-time, and saved their lives.

How to Excel at Everything

Freely adapted from Flaubert's unfinished book 'Bouvard et Pécuchet' (published posthumously in 1881), 'How to Excel at Everything' explores the dynamics operating in our current era of online self-study and YouTube tutorials. Guided by algorithmic recommendations, B and P try to learn everything without any pedagogical compass, falling into a new rabbit hole everyday. Exploring the thin interstice between online DIY culture and the dismantling of institutional pedagogical structures, 'How to Excel at Everything' translates the gamification of our lives and the rise of self-help culture into a learning odyssey.
