What's The Damage

WHAT’S THE DAMAGE is a proposition and a provocation; a call against dominant power structures answering back to ongoing crises under white patriarchy, relaying and augmenting feelings and gestures of chronic unease, protest and dissent. Spoken word and digital fluidities give Phillipson’s summons and riposte vital form through representations of livid, female bleeding, rising up against leadership circle-jerks, over-groomed toupees, environmental catastrophes, weeping vortexes, scorched orangutans, animal-fat banknotes and advancing super-moons, pizzas and drones.

A Photo of Me

During a family outing to a cinema, a young boy falls asleep. His mind flashes back to an early memory where, as a toddler, his family try to take a photo of him in their backyard. As he drifts in and out of sleep, his memory and the present begin to merge. Dennis Tupicoff's 2017 short film premiered at the prestigious Annecy International Animated Film Festival. The film's combination of hand-drawn animation with live action clips of the 1950 Film Noir D.O.A,, awakeness with sleep, and past with present creates a surreal quality that emanates throughout the film.

Tiny Big

At once fanciful and disquieting, “Tiny Big” presents a series of seemingly unrelated vignettes expressed through simple black-and-white line drawings, punctuated with occasional surprising bursts of color. Underscored by a soundtrack featuring the sounds of nature – wind, waves, crickets – the film eschews narrative, challenging viewers to draw their own conclusions about the significance of ritualized actions in a world that’s both hauntingly familiar and decidedly strange.
