A girl lives locked in her home surrounded by a high hedge. When the wind carries onto her balcony dry leaves, empty shells, faded petals and other small fragments from the woods – she collects them to keep them indoors and admire their beauty. It will be the wind that accidentally forces her to leave the house, to venture beyond the hedge and to lead her to an encounter with nature and with her self.

A girl asks herself many questions, confronts some of her monsters, anger makes her transform into a wasp, she intertwines with her king, cries excessively, turns red all over, and in the end grows into a giant.

"The Immortality of the crab" is an experimental animated short film shot on super 8 film, made with in-camera editing and no post production. In this movie, the synaesthetic research between sound and image is accomplished by connecting the animations, made on 1125 cardboard frames, with an original soundtrack produced using only sounds sampled by handling pieces of cardboard. The title refers to the time spent between the birth of the embryonal idea and the production of the short. "The Immortality of the crab" is a south american expression, almost no longer used, which indicates the act of daydreaming. This film symbolizes the director's release from the spectre of procrastination, a condition he sistematically faced when daydreaming about possible ways to give shape to his idea.

Colourfully patterned scarves have a long but now almost forgotten tradition in Southeast Europe. Playful animations depict the cultural change after the Yugoslavian war, but also the story of a small factory in Zagreb that brings this heritage back to life – and just like them, the film makes joyful use of an almost inexhaustible variety of patterns.

Totoi lives with his grandfather Bobore in Iaja, an ecovillage built on a promontory overlooking the open sea. The two have specific roles within the community in which they live: the grandfather is the guardian of the village and the only person alive who keeps alive the art of weaving bisso, sea silk, the only fiber that can be used to create the special nets used for fishing during s’orbesciu, the most heartfelt ritual in the entire community. The young man, on the other hand, is not interested in inheriting his grandfather’s art but is instead attracted to the sea and, above all, to what lies beyond the horizon he sees every day. His curiosity creates a constant conflict with Bobore, which will end on the night of s’orbesciu, when the two will make a choice from which there will be no turning back.

The video loop Portrait of a Mute Man follows the incessant flight of a fly inside a classroom whose direction is impossible to determine as it is constantly changing. This movement, accompanied by a background waltz that decomposes and recomposes exactly like the fluttering, corresponds to the speech of a person who discovers he has simply nothing to say.

It is essential to know in order to belong. Il Ponte Rotto is an anthropological animated documentary infiltrating Sardinian's Culture and Identity. Using Carnaval, a ritual specific to the heart of the Barbaricinian's island of Sardinia as a metaphor, the project questions the evolution of this land's culture.

This short stop-motion film narrates about the drama of a man that suddenly wakes up in jail and starts a peculiar dialogue with a mysterious voice. During the course of the film, the voice appears to be more and more his voice. Acting is the fundamental aspect of the video. The timing of the dialogue, the text, the tone of voice, the pauses and the puppet poses have all been designed and tested several times in live action first, in order to make the animation as realistic and as “human” as possible.

This animated short film tells the story of a single mother of an autistic child, abandoned by her husband, who embarks on a quest to find a good father for her son. Along the way, she faces rejection and disappointment until a chance encounter at a café renews her hope.

Unearthed is a campaigning, yet whimsical, stop frame animation using natural clay, itself from the earth, to celebrate and explore the theme of healthy soil, teeming with life. We zoom down and focus in on ever-more tiny beings that inhabit this largely unknown biome beneath our feet. Choreographed to Strauss’s Blue Danube waltz, the film’s characters dance out of Pearl’s imagination, inspired by wiggling earthworms, fungal mycelium, bugs, and soil bacteria. Healthy soil is key to life on earth. In a germophobic world, where soil is mostly considered ‘dirt’, a location that disgusts because insects thrive and pathogens possibly lurk, Unearthed encourages us instead to fall in love with the tiny beings living there, and whispers an SOS - to ‘Save Our Soil’.

A man at the station is heading towards a new journey, here he has an unexpected encounter.

The tooth-mouse moves quietly in the darkness of people’s homes. The nature of his works compels him to hide from humans. But all this secrecy unleashes in him an existential thought: “how can something exist if no one ever sees it?”

Audiovisual exploration of an experiential period in the territory of Lessinia, in the month of August. Long and terse days in the mountains can change quickly due to sudden disturbances. Often the conformation of the territory leaves the possibility to trace the path of the clouds even just following their shadows.

Although Marinetti wrote the Manifesto of Futurist Cinema, Velocità is seen by some as the only futuristic film in its own right. Beside a dense intertextual network and a mechanic dance of the screen titles and objects dancing to stop-motion beats, the movie features a unique showcase of air painting on film and a few swinging frames from the streets of Turin.

A stop-motion project

An exploration between the dreamlike and the real of the Umbrian landscape, defined as the "green heart of Italy", but like other Italian landscapes it hides contradictions, low-altitude flights and shaded areas. We are in Umbria, in the center of the Italian peninsula. A child runs through the green landscape, with a strip of sky on his head. Its run becomes a bird's eye view and we have the opportunity to visit the landscape from above until a dip makes us plunge into the gray of the urban, in the abandoned factories, the steel mill stands behind the vegetation and the now grown child will always seek to return to the green, becoming a landscape himself.

A man hungry for sausages buys a microwave oven that will drag him into the wild.

When all is wound by the fog and by the obscurity of the memory the game of the figures alternates in a world where signs and images are darkened by now. Only a little spark allows a child to undertake an unpredictable journey.

The video is the re-actualization of a memory, the reproduction of an image that in turn reproduces the reality of an event stuck in memory: when we bring into focus the memory from that moment on it vanishes, leaving only a sense of melancholia and emptiness of the soul. The video is inspired by unknown people’s personal memories and attempts to put them into focus crystallizing the very moment in which everything burst into flames and the memory vanishes. The technique used is the film combustion. Ach combustion is natural and is a unique and unrepeatable act, because the burned frame, even if similar to others, it is none other than itself and represents the instantaneous shot of an unrepeatable moment.
