Kukuczka

Jerzy Kukuczka is today considered the greatest Himalayan climber of all time. He was the second man to conquer all fourteen peaks over 8,000 meters. He accomplished this feat in just 8 years, an absolute record, and by multiplying winter ascents and new routes. A true force of nature, he died tragically in 1989, falling 3,000 meters during an attempt to climb the legendary south face of Lhotse (8,516 m). This powerful and moving film retraces the life, exploits, and career of a mountaineering legend, a modern-day hero, through previously unseen footage of his expeditions.

Nico Valsesia - From Zero To Monte Bianco - Summit

In the early morning of a middle summer day of 2013 the ultra-athlete Nico Valsesia reached the summit of Mont Blanc (4810 metres). But Nico wasn’t an alpinist like the many others with him that morning. He conquered the highest summit of Europe after a no-stop riding almost 17h long, started the day before by bicycle from a beach in Genoa. The first Mont Blanc 24 hour record was beaten by Marino Giacometti in 1997 (23hrs) and subsequently by Andrea Daprai in 2008 (18 hrs 58’). From that day on, Nico launched the project “From Zero To…” and continued to add records and summits (Aconcagua, Elbrus, Kilimanjaro). ”Summit” tells all the efforts that Nico and his team have made for making possible this epic challenge.

W di Walter

"W for Walter," directed by Rossana Podestà and Paola Nessi, is the last gesture of love that Rossana, who passed away in December 2013, offered to Walter Bonatti, recounting with intense sweetness and simplicity the life of the great mountaineer and explorer. Per Questi Stretti Morire

A compelling reconstruction of the adventurous life and works of explorer, filmmaker, and photographer Father Alberto Maria De Agostini (1883-1960). At the age of 26, he left a small village in Piedmont to become a missionary in South America. In 1910, he reached Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, which were still largely unexplored. He climbed mountains, discovered fjords and glaciers, and gave them names. Faced with the anguish and pain of the disappearance of the last Indios, he entrusted his testimony to the images captured on his photographic plates or on the frames of his film 'Terre Magellaniche'.

Through the Unknown

"Verso L'Ignoto" (Towards the Unknown) is an Italian documentary that follows mountaineer Daniele Nardi and his team in their attempt to achieve the first winter ascent of Nanga Parbat, an 8,000-meter peak in Pakistan, nicknamed the "killer mountain" due to its exceptional danger. For three years, the camera follows the preparation and several successive expeditions, showing the extreme cold, avalanches, fatigue, and the setbacks that constantly force the climbers to choose between continuing their quest for the summit or preserving their lives. More than just a story of sporting achievement, the documentary highlights doubt, defeat, and human fragility, showing that the "unknown" is not only the mountain, but also the element of risk, desire, and need for self-transcendence that each of us carries within.
