Ah-Fu, burdened with overwhelming debt, moves into a container home deep in the woods with his nine-year-old son, Wei-Wei. Together with his girlfriend Jing-Wen and her seven-year-old daughter Huan-Huan, this makeshift, struggling family does their best to get through each day. Though life is poor, these small, fleeting moments gradually gather into a warm current of memories in the child’s heart. Years later, the container home they once lived in appears in the news. Wei-Wei is drawn back to those memories—Ah-Fu’s disappearance, Jing-Wen leaving without a word, a rusted biscuit tin, and a set of unclaimed human remains.

This film is an adaptation of a short story of the same name, written by Kao Yi-feng. It tells the story of a green scarab beetle who has transformed into human form. As in the book, he is named "Vitamin." Vitamin surreptitiously enters people's apartments and observes and imitates human behavior. Through Vitamin's perspective as a bystander, the plot leads the audience to explore the unknown stories of various residents. However, Vitamin cannot understand the complex thoughts and desires of humans, and his short encounter with one person is fraught with doubt, conflict, and despair.

The film peers through the conditions of different social groups and their accusation, compromization, and pondering over their lives from the perspective of a taxi driver Huang and presents different issues in his daily family life; describing the disturbance from his wife’s point of view about the money and the marriage and all the absurd but real situation like how she turned to friend and god when facing difficulties; depicting his daughter’s troubles from the school, her boyfriend, her pregnancy and how she dealt with them in a seemingly mature but actually naive way. The driver, his wife, and his daughter held their own secrets until he came across a robbery, smashing the peaceful illusion of his family and tempting the improper thought inside him.

What began as an observer's stance transformed into active participation in drag. Through self-engagement in drag, the director assumed the identity of Rachel and seized an opportunity for a dialogue with self-identity. This experience led to an awareness of the conflicting dialectics between societal frameworks and personal identity. The director embarked on multiple attempts to coexist with and showcase the multifaceted aspects of the transformed, drag persona.
