Der Streit um den Hirntod – Organspende auf dem Prüfstand

In addition to cardiac death, brain death has also been considered the end of life since 1968. However, scientists are increasingly expressing doubts. Transplantation medicine needs a death criterion, because vital organs can only be removed from the dead. But are organ donors really dead? Since the first successful heart transplant in 1967, organ donation has been part of everyday clinical practice in many countries. However, acceptance seems to be declining in some countries: In Germany, the number of post-mortem organ donors is falling continuously, from 1,200 people in 2011 to 797 in 2017. And in countries such as Japan, transplant medicine has been viewed critically by the population for decades and is hardly ever used.

Sie sagt. Er sagt. Die Dokumentation.

The Code of Criminal Procedure is actually intended to help judges get to the truth. To do this, they interview witnesses, listen to experts, and have evidence presented. But what if the evidence does not provide a clear picture when statement is against statement? The judge is free to assess the evidence. All that counts is the judicial conviction, which ideally also corresponds to the “objective truth”. But how often is this really the case? How easily do we believe our own prejudices when in doubt? How quickly can we be manipulated? And how do we know when someone is lying? Knowledge of these soft factors also makes it difficult for people at the head of a court to decide whether guilt or innocence. In the end, the judges also have to live with a verdict that has serious consequences for those involved. The accompanying documentary to the TV movie attempts to explore this dilemma with the help of various interview partners and cases.

Männer und Feminismus. Geht das?

Feminism is no longer just a women's issue. More and more men are claiming to be feminists. But this is often easier said than done. Patriarchal structures are still deeply rooted today - in communication, the world of work, family and relationships, in politics and in education. The film follows four men who say they are feminists. They show how they imagine a feminist relationship, how they design a feminist company and how they are committed to more equality in the cultural and political sphere.

Profiteers of Fear

A certain degree of influence by the pharmaceutical industry on politics and authorities would not be surprising. The examples of large pharmaceutical companies directly influencing political decision-makers, ministries and authorities are too blatant. And thus decisions were made in favor of the industry. Paid specialists, bought-in experts, influenced politicians - independent decisions do not seem to be a matter of course in the healthcare system. "Profiteers of Fear" sheds light on the entanglements between politics and business.
