Killing Hitler: The True Story Of The Valkyrie Plot

This programme tells the true story of the Valkyrie plot and reveals that the plotters were not only driven by their hatred of Hitler but also by a desperate desire to keep the war out of Germany. It is interwoven with the powerful stories of some of the others who would not be crushed by the Nazi jackboot The White Rose Group, the Red Orchestra which put the Valkyrie plot into context and historical perspective. The programme also paints portraits of Klaus von Stauffenberg, the man behind the plot, and those others involved in the conspiracy.

Blitz Wales with John Humphrys

To mark the 75th anniversary of the start of the Blitz, John Humphrys returns to south Wales to discover more about the devastating Nazi bombing campaign and how it affected those who experienced it. He sees the reconnaissance maps the Germans used to identify key bombing targets. He takes to the air to follow the direct flight path of the Luftwaffe bombers, as they attacked Cardiff and Swansea. Back on the ground, he also meets survivors of the bombings, including Elaine Kidwell from Swansea, who describes the Blitz on the city as hell. He also visits locations where the bombs hit, including the site of Hollyman's Bakery, the setting for the single worst atrocity in Cardiff. This is a personal story for John, who was born in 1943, and who remembers playing amongst the rubble of the bombsites in Splott, near Cardiff docks.

Up, Down, Around

A student film comprising entirely of found footage, constructed to challenge the viewer's perception and induce a struggle between processing the images, keeping track of their sequence and interpreting the allegorical layers within the film. The screen is broken up into eight more or less equal squares of which, at any one moment, a scene fragment may flickeringly appear in only one frame-corner at a time. As the film moves forward in time and patterns on screen become more complex, the viewer must choose what to focus on.
