1943. On the eve of the Red Army offensive, Captain Belov's group, which includes Ivan Rodin, accidentally discovers a disguised tank division near the village of Anino. The scouts understand that only they know about the ambush arranged by the Germans. The wounded Belov orders Ivan to reach the Soviet command and warn them of the danger. He reports to the headquarters about the tanks he saw and even reproduces the tactical number of the division, but the front command does not believe him. Suspecting Ivan of misinformation and working for the Germans, the military sends him under arrest. Colonel Alyoshin tries to save his friend: thanks to his perseverance, the command sends another group to Anino — Ivan becomes the guide, and Odintsovo leads the detachment.

A tragic love story set during WWII.

Andrey Kulikov goes to Paris to visit the grave of his great-grandfather, Andrey Dolmatov, who had been an officer in the White Army during the Russian Revolution. On the headstone of the grave next to his great-grandfather's, he notices the face of a young woman. Later, while walking through Paris, Andrey sees a woman, Vera, who looks just like the young woman he had seen on the headstone. And so begins the telling of two love stories, separated by three generations and one hundred years.

There is no escape from the war... 1942. While all the forces of the country are thrown into the fight against fascist Germany, in the southern part of Yakutia there are gangs robbing gold mines. The largest of them is the elusive and brutal Popov gang, which collects stolen gold to organize a military coup in the Far East. In their footsteps, a small detachment of the NKVD under the leadership of Senior Lieutenant Karasev is sent through the snow-covered endless taiga.

The barracks are in a monastery, and Maris – whom everyone views as a fool – seems to consider his fate a religious calling. Until his eyes are opened by the soldiers’ misbehaviour, and he takes it upon himself to save a young woman.

Spring 1941. The peaceful life of three friends, two Sergeys and Ekaterina, from a small village in Kuban is interrupted by a sudden declaration of war and the landing of fascists in the Caucasus. The guys in love with Ekaterina volunteer to join the partisans, and she stays in the village and asks them to return quickly. Not far from these places, the Germans organize a warehouse with ammunition. The commander of the partisan detachment receives an order to destroy the enemy and blow up the warehouse. Two Sergeys are sent on a dangerous mission.

Todorovsky's film examines life in a provincial Russian town (that is too small to even appear on the map) just outside of Stalingrad during the famous WWII Battle. This is NOT a traditional war film, and the epic events of the battle take place almost entirely off screen. Instead, Todorovsky outlines a crude love triangle between three young people caught up in the harsh Russian winter. The stark winter settings, and the characters' struggle for survival, are what make this film one worth watching.

Set on a remote Russian steppe during the Russian Civil War of 1917-1921, a captured White Guard Officer is about to be hanged by the Bolsheviks. Will a reprieve arrive in time?

The plot tells of several civilians captured by the Ukrainian side and locked in an Orthodox church.
