The Third Wish

A simple organic fruit farmer Rong Guang (Wu Kang-Ren) is raising his son Feng (Chen Yu-Cheng) alone in a small rural community, although with poor harvests and little money, their lifestyle is meagre. Elsewhere Feng’s mother Yi Ying (Alice Tzeng), now a successful businesswoman is being pressured by her husband Chung Hao (Tang Guo-Zhong) to have children something she strongly resists. Ying reveals that she already has a son, feng, and that he may be Chung Hao’s after all, so they begin proceedings to take feng back for themselves which Rong Guang refuses to let happen. Chung Hao demands a DNA test but before this can happen, Rong Guang collapses and is taken to hospital, forcing him to make some drastic decisions for Feng’s welfare.

Saving Mother Robot

Taipei, late Dec 2012. The city is going through an unprecedented winter heatwave, with temperatures in the 30s. Eight-year-old Tiger (Antoine) lives with his divorced mother, Cao Yi (Vivian Hsu), 36, who is struggling to make ends meet with her job as a magazine editor and reduced alimony payments from her ex-husband (Tang Kuo-chung). Tiger, who has a hyper-active imagination and sees his mother as a run-down robot who needs a new model, is not very bright at school and worries his art teacher (Mini Yang) with the dark pictures he draws in class.

Where the River Flows

Gei rescues the man (Chris Wu) and finds that he looks exactly like his father! Bony's sudden arrival changes the family in unexpected ways, even as he constantly badgers Gei to help him return to the past.

In a secluded indigenous tribe, 3 kids who grew up in the mountains and the woods. They are all very optimistic, energetic and playful; yet, they are also troubled by their own family issues. Their handicapped teacher opened an after school session to help them with their schoolwork. For the children, it's like a ray of love shone on them. The teacher has a beautiful voice, but never sings. One day, the 3 kids find a tape of their teacher's recording and are amazed by her voice. They decide to bring this tape to Taipei.... What changes will this trip bring to all of their lives?

A karaoke-addicted elderly woman (Chen Shu-Fang) lives her life by the Taiwanese saying, “Guo Mie,” which translates to “as long as you devote your life to the creation of one thing, and do whatever you could, everything will turn out.” But her philosophy is seriously put into question as she struggles to come to terms with the loss of her estranged husband. She attends the funeral only to encounter his younger lover and then finds out that her children might have kept in touch with her late husband secretly behind her back. Director Joseph Chen-Chieh Hsu said that the story is based on his grandmother, who was forced to raise eight kids by herself after her husband ran away. The student short film was shot in his home country of Taiwan. Selected as a 2017 Student Academy Awards Finalist, the short also appeared in the 2018 Asian American International Film Festival. It’s the first time that lead actress Shu-Fang has sung in a film in over 40 years.

Ah Quan makes a living as a laborer, earning money through physical work. In his spare time, he enjoys gambling, with mixed results—sometimes winning, but mostly losing. As a result, aside from making ends meet, his savings are pitifully small. It wasn't until his elderly father, Ah Dong (played by Peng Yi), began frequently going in and out of the hospital that most of his income had to be spent on his father's medical expenses, prompting him to gradually quit gambling. However, watching his father suffer from illness and dealing with the pressure from his wife, Qiu Rong (played by Huang Jiefei), Ah Quan decided to take a gamble once more, hoping for a turnaround. Unfortunately, on the same day, his father's life came to an end, leaving Ah Quan torn between using his father's funeral savings and his hopes of hitting the jackpot.

The Roar

The film peers through the conditions of different social groups and their accusation, compromization, and pondering over their lives from the perspective of a taxi driver Huang and presents different issues in his daily family life; describing the disturbance from his wife’s point of view about the money and the marriage and all the absurd but real situation like how she turned to friend and god when facing difficulties; depicting his daughter’s troubles from the school, her boyfriend, her pregnancy and how she dealt with them in a seemingly mature but actually naive way. The driver, his wife, and his daughter held their own secrets until he came across a robbery, smashing the peaceful illusion of his family and tempting the improper thought inside him.
