Birds of Passage

Cathy’s birthday’s on 29th February, which is an impossible day as it is, because it’s a leap day. Then her dad comes up with the bright idea of giving her a duck egg to hatch for her tenth birthday. The chick appears when Cathy and her best friend Margot are watching, and the chick thinks Margot is its mummy. But Margot is bound to a wheelchair and will soon have to go to a special home. Unable to look after the duckling on her own, her parents decide to ged rid of it... Cathy and Margot end up in an adventure which teaches them a lot about how to rescue a migratory bird, but even more about themselves.

We’re in the inner-suburbs of Angoulême. All the houses look the same. A young couple in love, two hipsters, moves in with their significant others. She’s got a dog that he finds stupid and he’s got an enormous cat that she finds shifty and spineless. Intrigued by the mystery of why this fat cat is always disappearing, Dagobert, the dog, decides to investigate to find out what shady business he’s up to, what secrets he’s hiding. All of this takes place in a city covered with wall murals and besieged by repeated sabotage carried out by really bizarre “terrorists”... and so Detective Kibbles is born. He’s got his work cut out for him, all this and way more as gaffes and slapstic whacky situation.

A 12 year old girl and her 8 year old brother live one week with their mother and the next week with their father. The girl blamers her mother, a super businesswoman for the divorce and turns all her anger on her. She prefers the weeks with her father who is flat broke after leaving his bank job to give people free hugs on street corners. Her brother channels his sense of injustice into the battle to save the planet. As the school year progresses and her parents struggle to mend their lives and as the girl approaches her 13th birthday, she learns to see the world in a new way.
