Gangster Rock

Chie Jen-Hao's Gangster Rock is a lovable mess, though more mess than lovable. It's essentially about people realising fame and fortune isn't everything as long as they're alive and have options, and while there are plenty of ways to film this sort of thing - from the stunning low-key fantasy drama of Studio 4C's Princess Arete to the laid-back coming-of-age vignettes that pepper Hong Kong and Taiwanese cinema - you generally need a compelling cast of characters and at least a modicum of professionalism to pull it off. Gangster Rock has neither. There are two stories here. One plotline follows Hau (Leon Jay Williams, Jump), a small-time gangster not long out of prison after a shakedown gone horribly wrong led to the death of his then girlfriend. The other stars (collectively) Gangster, a group of musicians working the underbelly of Taipei's club scene, where industry sharks insist the two lead

Mayday 3DNA

Billed as a "concept film" MAYDAY 3DNA combines play from the group's DNA concert tour in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and China 2010 and interweaves that with three fictional stories. The fictional sequences include a vignette about a Guangzhou father and daughter; another about a Taiwan taxi driver and passenger; and a third about a Shanghai delivery boy. All are affected by the lure of a Mayday gathering and the three separate stories intersect at one particular Mayday concert in Shanghai. Established in Taiwan in the late 1990s, Mayday has remained popular for over a decade by tuning into a Taiwan youth beat and pushing rock music in Greater China. Most songs are performed in Mandarin with some Taiwanese Hokkien tracks by band.

Rock On!

Musical movie called "Rock on" was ready to be filmed. For saving the cost of the budget, the casting producer named "Senior Tsai", picked up his roles from the rejects of an audition. Such as kid from Hong Kong, he can both write and sing, Candy, a girl who's just like the Barbie doll, and LaReine, a snappy girl who could dance hip-pop to the top, together they co-starred this new title. For creating more topics, Tsai he called up Johnny, who used to be the hottest idol, to helm this musical film and train the new hopefuls he had seek. Progressively, the shooting got started and this has-been idol, Johnny, he eagerly hoped this movie would win him his come-back moment.

Anathema: The Optimist

【The Optimist】The album begins with the first song "32.63N 117.14W", which is a landmark located on a beach on the west coast of the United States, and it is the place where the protagonist of the story was last seen. The concept of the new album comes from Anathema’s earlier work [A Fine Day To Exit]. Lead guitarist Daniel Cavanagh explained: "The protagonist of the story suddenly disappeared. Where did he go? Did he start a new life or start a new life? Knocked down by fate, not accounted for, and no one knows his whereabouts." Album producer Tony Doogan [Mogwai, Belle & Sebastian, Super Furry Animals] suggested recording the album with a full orchestra, which is also Anathema A method that has not been tried in many years. Lead singer Vincent Cavanagh said: "Tony wanted to capture the drama of the band, the tension that can only be found when all the members are playing together face to face, and the results are quite admirable."
