Strauss: Salome

The story is set at the beginning of the Christian era on a large terrace of Herod’s palace, during the reign of Herod Antipas. At night, on a terrace of the palace, Salome, Herod’s stepdaughter, is gazed at passionately by Narraboth, captain of the guard. Jochanaan, a prophet, is imprisoned in a cistern for having slandered Herod. He proclaims the coming of Jesus, but his message is met with incomprehension by the guards. Salome hears the prophet. She manages to convince the guards to bring Jochanaan out so she can see him. Both fascinated and frightened by his prophecies, Salome falls passionately in love with this man. Richard Strauss’s opera at the 2018 Salzburg Festival, directed by Romeo Castellucci at the Felsenreitschule. In her debut in the title role, Asmik Grigorian distinguished herself with her talents as a singer and actress.

The Metropolitan Opera: La Bohème

Puccini’s timeless love story, which includes some of its composer’s most beloved music, has moved generations of opera lovers since its 1896 world premiere. It has also proved incredibly popular with the Met’s global HD audiences and has been featured in three live high-definition transmissions since 2008. The most recent, presented during the 2017–18 season, includes a cast of celebrated young artists. Soprano Sonya Yoncheva is the fragile seamstress Mimì, who instantly falls in love with the passionate poet Rodolfo, sung by tenor Michael Fabiano. Soprano Susanna Phillips and baritone Lucas Meachem trade both spars and kisses as the on-again-off-again lovers Musetta and Marcello, with bass Matthew Rose and baritone Alexey Lavrov rounding out the rambunctious gang of bohemian friends. Maestro Marco Armiliato takes the podium to lead Franco Zeffirelli’s picturesque staging.

In a gray world, Henry created colors. He managed to trap them inside small glass balls to give to his sick wife, but he couldn't save her. From that day on, he began to produce colored balls non-stop, involving his four sons but refusing to share that incredible magic with the rest of the world and arguing with his youngest son, Stick, about it. Twenty years later, Stick returns home because his father is dying. The only hope seems to lie in a very expensive medical device, but only by freeing the color from the glass balls will Stick and Henry be able to reconcile and fill everyone's lives with beauty.

Tchaikovsky: Swan Lake

Prince Siegfried is celebrating his coming of age. The Queen Mother informs him that, the following day, during the grand ball held to mark his birthday, he must choose a future wife. Displeased at not being able to choose her out of love, he goes into the forest during the night. It is then that he spots a flock of swans. He raises his crossbow, prepares to shoot, but stops immediately: before him stands a beautiful woman dressed in white swan feathers, followed by twelve other women dressed in the same way, four of whom are known as the ‘little swans’. ‘Swan Lake’ is a ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, comprising 4 acts and 4 scenes, or 3 acts and 4 scenes. The staging is based on a libretto by Vladimir Begichev and Vasili Geltser. The story is an ancient German legend recounting the tale of the beautiful Princess Odette, transformed into a swan by the curse of the evil sorcerer Rothbart. Celine Dion Live 2018 was a concert tour by Canadian singer Celine Dion to support her greatest hits album, The Best So Far... 2018 Tour Edition (2018). It marked Dion's first concerts in Asia and Australia since the Taking Chances World Tour in 2008. The tour began on 26 June 2018 in Tokyo, Japan and concluded on 14 August 2018 in Auckland, New Zealand, making a total of 22 concerts performed. The tour was sold-out and grossed $56.5 million. The first concert of the tour which took place in Tokyo was recorded and broadcast on 25 August 2018. This show sold record number of 42,748 tickets.

A few months ago, Doc Gyneco announced the reformation of Secteur Ä in its entirety, including Doc Gyneco, Passi, Pit Baccardi, Ärsenik, Stomy Bugsy, les Neg' Marrons, Mc Janik and Singuila. To mark the occasion, the first episode of a documentary dedicated to the Secteur Ä collective has just been released.
