In der Oper versucht Odysseus' Sohn Telemaco, den Helden von Troja zurückzuholen. Odysseus wird jedoch von Circe, die Odysseus liebt, gewaltsam festgehalten. In der Koproduktion der Schwetzinger Festspiele mit dem Theater Basel und dem Staatstheater Nürnberg singen unter anderen David DQ Lee, Tomasz Zagórski und Agneta Eichenholz. Es spielt das Freiburger Barockorchester unter der Leitung von Anu Tali.

A Christmas Carol: The Concert is a unique musical event — Charles Dickens' popular 1843 novella has been adapted for a live orchestral concert with choir and soloists, and performed for an audience in a concert setting. We follow the timid Theo, whose mother stands to lose her disability benefits. Help comes from the effortlessly flamboyant trans woman Kleopatra, a militant animal-identified posthumanist (a.k.a. In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Dmitri Shostakovich's death in 2015, filmmaker Reiner Moritz produced his documentary Dmitri Shostakovich, A Man of Many Faces. With British actor John Hurt as narrator, Moritz examines Shostakovich's life, focusing in on two events in particular: the 1936 banning of his highly successful opera Lady Mabeth of the Mtsensk District, and the composer's labelling as a "formalist and cosmopolitan" in 1948. Despite such setbacks, Shostakovich went on to pursue a resilient and fulfilling career that testifies to the power of art in the face of a dictatorial terror regime. In telling his story, Mortiz weaves together rare footage of the composer himself talking and performing his Concerto for Piano, Trumpet, and Strings with captivating performances of his 15 symphonies and 6 concertos by Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra and filmed excerpts of Lady Macbeth and his quartets.

This is a film about fulfilling dreams. This is a film about winning the battle against yourself. Vanja is 29 years old, she is a professional filmmaker, and she has nothing to do with the music business or the profession in general, apart from being a huge fan of her favorite performers. She will form a tribute to an American band "The Decemberists", whose song "I Was Meant for the Stage" inspired her. She booked a concert before she ever sat behind a drum set and long before her band ever existed. The film follows the entire process - from the idea, organizing the audition, forming the band, all through her struggle with learning, practicing hard and reaching her ultimate goal - playing the concert at the end. The mindset of the documentary is to show the enthusiasm that youth holds within its' age and how each individual can truly achieve whatever one may put his or her mind to, as long as the heart is in the right place.

Young artist Dan dreams of success, but for now he is serving community service cleaning the city.
