Claude Debussy's fairy tale-based opera Pelléas et Mélisande is by now well known; at once a tale of doomed love and a meditation on the cycle of creation and destruction (adapted from Maurice Maeterlinck's 1893 symbolist play), it originally premiered in 1902 to mixed critical reception, but has since become a staple of the operatic repertory and one of the most popular works from Debussy's canon. This particular production emerged from the Opernhaus Zürich in 2004. It stars Rodney Gilfry as Pelléas, Isabel Rey as Mélisande and Michael Volle as Golaud. Franz Welser-Möst conducts the Zurich Opera Orchestra; Sven-Eric Bectholf directs for the stage.

J. B. Lenoir (1929 - 1967) was an American blues guitarist and singer-songwriter, active in the Chicago blues scene in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1965 the Swedish/American couple Rönnog and Steve Seaberg visited J.B. at his home on the South Side of Chicago and recorded 30 minutes of music and conversation. Still, while the bassist was already beginning to show some signs of decline when Jaco Pastorius: Live and Outrageous was filmed at the Montreal Jazz Festival in 1982, he was still capable of putting on an exciting show.

In 2005, the Staatsoper Berlin and its orchestra, the Staatskapelle Berlin under musical director Daniel Barenboim, celebrated a series of events to celebrate the 80th birthday of French conductor and composer Pierre Boulez. Artistically associated for decades with Barenboim and Berlin, Pierre Boulez is one of today's most distinguished composers and conductors. As part of the celebration, Boulez conducted a performance of Mahler's "Resurrection" Symphony at the Berlin Philharmonie. With his uncompromising approach to the score, Pierre Boulez's Mahler readings have long fascinated critics and audiences alike. Boulez eschews the romanticized readings common in performance tradition and, instead, reveals the real joy and terror in Mahler's large-scale symphonies.

Since her thrilling, 1995 debut at the San Francisco Opera, soprano Anna Netrebko has starred with opera companies and orchestras worldwide. Brazilian Band - Back To Bar - Live is the 17th album of the Brazilian backlands double Bruno e Marrone, released in 2009 on CD and DVD Recorded at Hangar Studios in São Paulo, on 29 and 30 October 2008, the album revives the early career of Bruno e Marrone, who performed in bars in the region of Goiás and Minas Gerais. The scene was set and designed to resemble the atmosphere of the bars. The album features some of the major successes of the repertoire played by the duo in their early career, such as "I Am" by Chrystian & Ralf and "Two Times You" Caesar and Paulinho, besides the unreleased songs "Love You So Much" , "can Go While" and "Do not Try to Stop Me" (the lead single from the album). Also noteworthy rewriting "Cavalcade", success of Roberto Carlos originally recorded by them in 1977. This album also received a nomination for the 2009 Latin Grammy award for best backcountry album that same year.
