Broadway dancing star Adele Dorey who, overworked and exhausted, suddenly ups and leaves New York in favor of a country village. But when promoter Bobby Lewis (Egan) of the barnstorming Gay Girlies Burlesque Company arrives in town, he picks an incognito Adele among all the pretty village girls to star in his new show. On a lark, Adele introduces her maid Jane (Louise Fazenda) as her mother and accepts a contract. When Adele's identity is finally revealed, the slumming star apologizes for her deception by offering Bobby a Broadway job.

Tina Turner gives an exclusive, in-depth interview to BBC Arts editor Will Gompertz, discussing the highs and lows of her extraordinary career and bringing her well-documented life story up to date. In a wide-ranging conversation, Tina talks about the tragedy of her eldest son's recent suicide, how an unexpected stroke affected the early days of her second marriage, and how her life was saved when her husband became her kidney donor. She also discusses the musical collaborations that saw her become one of the icons of the 1980s, and the abusive relationship with former husband Ike Turner that first set her on the road to stardom but also nearly destroyed her.

This film resulted from the unfinished short film Puce Women. The film opens with a camera watching 1920s style flapper gowns being taken off a dress rack. The dresses are removed and danced off the rack to music. (The original soundtrack was Verdi opera music; in the 1960s, Anger re-released the film with a new psychedelic folk-rock soundtrack performed by Jonathan Halper.) A long-lashed woman, Yvonne Marquis, dresses in the purple puce gown and walks to her vanity to apply perfume. She lies on a chaise lounge which then begins to move around the room and eventually out to a patio. Borzois appear and she prepares to take them for a walk.

A Night in London is a live concert video by Mark Knopfler. When the Stray Cats rolled into Montreux in July of 1981 they were one of the hottest properties around. They had 3 hit singles and a UK top 10 album already under their belts along with a string of headlining concerts, all of which had come since their relocation from New York to London in 1980. The band's combination of original songs and rockabilly classics with a punk attitude and style had caught the moment to perfection. All in all it was a heady concoction and the crowd in Montreux reacted with near hysterical excitement, something rarely seen in what is usually a polite and reserved audience. A young man follows a pretty girl into her office, which turns out to be a musical dentist office. Cute chorus girls attend to the many male customers, and the girl the young man was following is revealed to be the dentist. She gives the young man anesthetic gas and he dreams the dentist and her troupe of nurses are dancing on the ceiling.

Jack Benny presents a variety hour with a carnival theme that stars Lucille Ball, Johnny Carson, Ben Blue, and Paul Revere and The Raiders. Cameos by The Smothers Brothers (as Joe-Joe, the two-headed boy), George Burns (as Martine, the Bearded Lady), and Dean Martin (as Rip Van Rinkle, the sleeping man). DIVINING was Judith Jamison's first major work as a choreographer for Ailey, evoking a strong feeling for African tribal ritual, is set to hauntingly rhythmic drum music. REVELATIONS, often describes as the company's signature tune, has become an American classic. Set to Modern Jazz, THE STUCK-UP takes place in modern-day Harlem, about the cruel reality of urban street life as a young man is destroyed by drugs. CRY, choreographed by Alvin Ailey in 1971 for Judith Jamison, is one of his most famous pieces. Created as a birthday present for his mother, it is Ailey's tribute to black women and inspires moving emotions with its portrayal of struggle, anger and most importantly, its feeling of celebration.

Mark Knopfler is one of the most successful musicians in the world. During the past 30 years he has written and recorded over 300 songs including some of the most famous in popular music. In this in-depth documentary he talks about how these songs have defined him and how they have been influenced by his own life and roots. It features previously unseen photographs from his personal collection and comprehensive footage spanning his career from a struggling musician playing in pubs in Leeds in the 1970s, to the record-breaking success with Dire Straits and his world tour as a solo artist. Looking back over the 25 years since he wrote the iconic Brothers In Arms album, the film takes an affectionate look at how this formidable, creative man has operated as a musician for three decades and how he continues to do so as a solo artist who is as much in demand as ever.

We visit Martin Block at his studio desk at 11:30 AM at the height of his popularity as a disk jockey, when more than 400 radio stations carried his show. Block opens the show with Freddie Martin's first big hit, "Tonight We Love," an adaption of a Tchaikovsky piano concerto; he dedicates it to a listener in Wyoming, and we see her daydreaming as she listens. Then Keenan Wynn stops in for a chat, asking Block about being a DJ. Between bits of conversation with Wynn, Block plays three more Martin records, including "Cumana," and we see the band in action.

The Next Step is Steps' second tour after their Step One Tour. At the time, the Next Step Tour was the biggest UK pop tour in history. The tour premieres some tracks of their 2nd album Steptacular including When I Said Goodbye, Deeper Shade of Blue and Say You'll Be Mine which later were singles in 2000. The 31 October Manchester show was broadcast live on Sky Box Office and later released on the video "The Next Step Live", which shows some backstage footage of the show. The show is split into three different themes - "Carnival", "Space" and "Garden".
