Seal: Soundstage

This concert premieres on PBS February 12, 2009 Seal’s one-of-a-kind soaring, husky baritone is perfect for any genre. He’s delighted fans and earned critical acclaim while staying true to classic, honest songwriting in his remarkable two-decade career. And now, he’s done it again with the release of his exceptional sixth studio album Soul. Together with legendary music producer David Foster, Seal adds his signature touch to some of the best soul songs ever created. In a stunning performance, Seal evokes an era when music vividly captured emotion and romance. Joined by Foster, as well as a choir and string section, Seal takes on Ann Pebbles’ “I Can’t Stand the Rain,” Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” and Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes’ “If You Don’t Know Me By Now.”

Isaiah and the Fragility

"I started to compose other things, life-relevant things. That could tell someone something. And coincidentally, a dialogue began to form between Isaiah and these new songs. A dialogue of almost two cries that shout at each other." Duarte Rosado SJ. The documentary is actually a look at this dialogue between Isaiah and the new songs of Duarte. A testimony to fragility as a place of grace. In addition to the practical effect of recording the day of the recording, this short documentary seeks to suspend a space and time where the prophecy of Isaiah and the human condition touch. João Pedro Filipe

The Who: Sensation - The Making of Tommy

1968 was a time of soul searching for the band - with three badly performing singles behind them they needed a big new idea to put them back at the top and crucially to hold them together as a band. Inspired by Indian spiritual master Meher Baba, Pete Townshend created the character of Tommy, the 'deaf, dumb and blind boy'. Broke and fragmenting when they started recording, the album went on to sell over 20 million copies. In this film, the Who speak for the first time about the making of the iconic album and how its success changed their lives.
