Dream Catcher

Rapunzel eagerly awaits her prince from her tower top singing “Someday My Prince Will Come”. Her hair is extremely long and can reach far away outside of the tower. She starts to spin and rewind her locks in order to catch her unseen prince. As the spinning movement proceeds, Rapunzel becomes highly emotional. Eventually she loses sight of her initial aspiration and transforms into a mere yarn-ball-like, cocoon-like black mass. Meanwhile, the world outside of the tower is ruined by Rapunzel’s rampaging hair. The chaos created is as if some apocalyptic natural disaster has taken place.

data-verse 3

data-verse is a data-driven audio-visual trilogy by artist and composer Ryoji Ikeda which marks a two-decade culmination in the artist’s research. The trilogy addresses the layered dimensions of our world, from the microscopic, to the human, to the macroscopic. Through Ikeda’s process, massive scientific data sets have been transcribed, converted, transformed, de/re/meta-constructed and orchestrated to visualise and sonify the different dimensions that co-exist in our world between the visible and the invisible. Each variation immerses visitors in the vast data universe in which we live, capturing hidden facets of nature and the vast scientific knowledge underpinning our existence. This large-scale data-driven trilogy is generated by extremely precise computer programming and features a minimalist electronic soundtrack, harmonised with Hollywood-standard, high-definition, 4K DCI video projections of scientific data onto a large screen.

Galo Sengen

The animated music video became well-known for its humorous depiction of a Japanese youth culture known as "Gyaruo," which is characterized by the dark tanned skin, dyed blond hair and appreciation for dance music. In the video, a group of men are satirically portrayed as Super Saiyans, a type of superfighters from the Japanese manga franchise Dragon Ball, who transcend into the state of "galish" or "gyaru," a slang term derived from the Japanese pronunciation of English word "girl."

Envy: Last Wish - Live at Liquid Room Tokyo

Envy played only one show after the worldwide release of their critically acclaimed new album, The Fallen Crimson. In February 2020 – before COVID-19 effectively halted all live music worldwide, Envy performed a crazy, sweaty, sold-out hometown show at LIQUIDROOM, the Tokyo venue that has become sort of an extended living room for the legendary band. “We were lucky that we were able to play this one gig before all live shows were canceled“, says vocalist Testu Fukagawa. “The performance itself is a bit rough and we could probably have performed better, but we wanted to send our fresh feelings to our fans by means of this performance, while they can't see Envy live.”

Heavy Metal Me

Heavy Metal Me is a DVD release by Japanese band Boris. It consists of live performances of "Feedbacker" and "Flood", music videos for "A Bao A Qu" and "The Evil One Which Sobs", and the titular short film Heavy Metal Me. The short film is actually a series of chapters on the disc which play in a random order every time the user hits play (though the chapters for each language remain together). Filmed primarily in black and white, the piece is deliberately low quality and aged, with guitarist Wata playing the lead; most chapters feature analog hiss and white noise for audio tracks, though some are totally silent, and others contain acoustic guitar plucks atop the hiss. Notably the DVD has no "play all" button and each portion must be played individually from the menu.
