Mu

An experimental art film shot in Tokyo, Japan, ‘Mu’ combines black and white footage with a bespoke poem written by poet Shuya Masuda (inspired in part by the poem ‘Nu’ written by Ryuichi Tamura, ‘Mu’ literally meaning nothing, zero, void) alongside visuals inspired by photographer Daido Moriyama and a textured performance interlude by Japanese rapper Jin Dogg. In its sum, this film creates the physical manifestation of the imagined characters director Taichi Kimura has written in his previous film ‘Lost Youth’ and in his feature currently in development, ‘Neon’.

"One Last Kiss” for EVA EXTRA 30

The Central Tower, a video experience device that stands in the center of the exhibition tour area "EVA EXTRA 30," displays six large LED monitors, each measuring 6m high and 4m wide, in a honeycomb pattern. Interacting with over 700 LED bar lights placed throughout "EVA EXTRA 30," visitors can enjoy an experiential visualization that reconstructs Eva's visual memories. Preparations are currently underway for a special performance, "One Last Kiss for EVA EXTRA 30," to be held alongside "One Last Kiss" (the theme song for the film "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time").

Ashita Metro de Surechigau no wa, Mahou no You na Koi

With the theme of “film,” this tour teamed up with filmmaker Seita Yamagishi to create a structure in which four short films set in the “Metro” intersect with the music. These short films were shown during the live concert, and the music and the films were interlinked to provide a cinematic experience for the audience. A full version of the short films, including previously unreleased scenes not shown at the live concert, was also included in the later Blu-ray release.

Cornelius - Mellow Waves Visuals

Cornelius and his band performed Oct. 8 at the Tokyo International Forum Hall A as part of the Mellow Waves Tour 2018. Going to a Cornelius show isn't just about enjoying live music; it's about taking in a distinctly unique audio and visual experience, including innovative visual effects and lighting. As today's market for live music continues to expand, the importance of visual tricks and twists to accompany live performances has grown as well, but Cornelius -- the solo project of Keigo Oyamada -- has been integrating music and visual effects in his concerts for over a decade and is a pioneer in this regard.

Documentary of AKB48: AKB48+1+10

We’re back for round two! Much like “AKB48+1”, this documentary goes through the English alphabet talking about a different aspect of the group for each letter. While still featuring tons of behind the scenes footage, it focuses more on member relations and the events of the past year (2012). Again, this documentary is a brilliant look into the diversity of the AKB48 experience. There’s so much about this group to learn, and the two bonus “AKB48+1” and “AKB48+1+10” documentaries provide a detailed look in a fun way.
