The film accompanies the internationally renowned countertenor Andreas Scholl to recitals in Dresden, Schwetzingen and his home town, Kiedrich. In interviews Andreas Scholl sheds light on his personal and artistic development. In bonus parts of the DVD Andreas Scholl sings John Dowland's "Lute Songs" and Dietrich Buxtehude's "Jubilate Domino." Directly after the recital, Scholl and his co-performers discuss the works and their interpretation of them. "What is the point of a recital, an opera, what is the purpose of music, presented to an audience by performers, communicators? Of course, the purpose of music and art in general, is to enlighten and inspire the human spirit. It is about stimulating – and shaping – both our hearts and our minds." These and other questions Andreas Scholl wants to find out in this portrait.

Neo-soul, Afrobeat, jazz, and hip-hop... Singer Nneka moves seamlessly between all these styles to speak out against abuse and social injustice. Arriving in Germany at the age of 20, the young Nigerian woman first turned to music to overcome homesickness, before making it the center of her life. Whether lyrical or protest-driven, her singing has one constant: power.

Beethoven Project - A Ballet by John Neumeier
Warkings hit Wacken 2025 with full force, bringing their epic power metal straight from the halls of Valhalla to the festival stage. Since their founding, the band has portrayed themselves as a warrior collective from times long past, bringing their tales of crusaders, Vikings, and legends to musical life. Their current album, "Armageddon," is a storm of thunderous riffs, anthemic choruses, and dramatic theatricality, always accompanied by the mystical voice of Morgana le Fay. Those who appreciate monumental hooks, fierce pathos, and a touch of fantasy will find Warkings a show that oscillates between headbanging ecstasy and battlefield atmosphere, loud, proud, and with swords raised.

“Ulla von Brandenburg’s Singspiel (“song-play”) was filmed in one single shot at Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye, following actors in a deceptive track through the house. In each space, a character performs a gesture or movement. The dialogue between the actors is performed by singing a collection of partially connected sentences. The title, which refers to an opera/operetta-style German musical drama, heightens the tragic and uncomfortable sense haunting the work.”

It is 9 April 2023, 4:20 p.m. sharp. A soundscape of artillery, gun salvos and death cries brings the halls of the Backstage-Werk in Munich to life. The visitors in the packed hall look eagerly at the first world war scenery that has been erected on stage shortly before. The hooded musicians climb onto the stage and bring the audience at the Dark Easter Metal Meeting to the boil for the second year in a row. 50 minutes of brutal death metal paired with melodic black metal rain down on the audience like a drumfire. At 5:10 pm the spectacle has come to an end, leaving an oppressive, queasy feeling in the stomach. This was probably one of the most impressive shows Kanonenfieber have ever played.

Mein Rachmaninow – Sergey Tanin in der Villa Senar
The north at its most beautiful: If you drive from Hamburg along the Elbe to Stade, you’ll find yourself right in the heart of the Altes Land. The villages are characterized by almost artistic half-timbered houses; in spring, the apple trees bloom snow-white, and in autumn, it’s harvest time in Europe’s largest contiguous fruit-growing region.

Director Fabuli Schnibuli's cinematic tour de force whisks audiences away on a poetic, melancholic journey with singing seniors – cardigan-clad artists searching for meaning in a world devoid of it – to picturesque Marktgemeinde Großarl. Daring and delightfully unhinged, the film transcends all boundaries and conventions: It is a meandering ode to the absurdity and fragility of life, a profound meditation on the human condition, a dreamlike tapestry of past and present, remembrance and oblivion, and a subtle critique of local pastry culture. With his wit and sensitivity, Schnibuli conjures a haunting and ethereal hymn to nature's beauty and human intimacy, all underscored by the gentle rustling of leaves, the babbling of streams, the resonance of Günther's remarkable baritone. Those who embrace this thought-provoking and inspiring opportunity to rediscover their lives in the subjunctive will lose themselves and find themselves again – a true testament to the possibilities of cinema!

B.B. King: The King of the blues Stuttgart - 1997
The first concert/movie recording from the "Bürgersaal" Northeim - wall to wall next to the Stockfisch studio. On May 18, 2016, Allan Taylor performed in the "Bürgersaal" for the first time, the concert was quickly sold out and some of the guests were partly from far away - they came from Schleswig-Holstein, Berlin, Braunschweig, Frankfurt and even from Hungary and the Netherlands. A wonderful evening with the great songs of this artist, who has been traveling around the world for over half a century with his guitar, his stories and songs. The man, whose voice is so incomparably warm and deep, whose guitar playing is so puristic, yet so full and expressive, and whose wonderfully simple lyrics base always on deep thoughts and a touch of melancholy.
