During the Lantern Festival, Chen San encounters Wu Niang, and mutual attraction blossoms. Chen San cunningly enters the Huang household as a servant. Through clever schemes and determination, Wu Niang resists an arranged marriage, and the lovers ultimately unite in matrimony. This film is recognized as one of the four classic Taiwanese opera plays. In 1981, Yang Li-hua juggled both television and film commitments, leading her troupe in this production. This film marked the end of the taiyupian era.

The 50th anniversary of the Barrandov studios was celebrated with a spectacular show: many directors and other important people gathered in the expensive decorations of the Variety Theatre auditorium (built for the Circus Humberto series). They smiled and showed well-deserved relaxation after a job well done in managing socialist cinema. Vladimir Sís interspersed this with excerpts from films, mainly his own and also a little of others who had worked on the "Hill of Dreams".

In "Ciao, Italia! Live from Italy" Madonna visits the land of her noble heritage for this high-energy concert video filmed in 1987. It contained footage from a previous TV special of the Who's That Girl World Tour, Madonna in Concerto, broadcast in Europe in 1987, filmed at the Stadio Comunale in Turin, Italy. The video release also contained footage from shows recorded in Florence, Italy and Tokyo, Japan. The tour supported her 1986 third studio album True Blue, as well as the 1987 soundtrack Who's That Girl.

This is the historic concert performance of the final operatic version of Bernstein's Candide. It was recorded on December 13, 1989 at the Barbican Centre, with Leonard Bernstein conducting the London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, with a stellar cast of operatic stars gracing the solo parts. The programme lasts a full 2hrs 27 mins. It marks the end of a long and tortured journey for the musical/operetta that spent much of its first 35 years as an orphan in the musical wilderness.

A Jumpin' Night in the Garden of Eden

A Jumpin' Night in the Garden of Eden was the first film to document the klezmer revival, tracing the efforts of two founding groups, Kapelye and Boston's Klezmer Conservatory Band, to recover the lost history of klezmer music. For nearly a millennium, this vigorous and soulful music was part of the celebration of Jewish life in Eastern Europe. In the early decades of this century, the music took root in America. Klezmer musicians learned hundreds of tunes by ear and their ears were open to Gypsy, Ukrainian and Greek melodies of the old world, as well as to the new sounds of American jazz. Music born in Eastern Europe lived on in the imaginations of composers for New York's Yiddish theater, men whose tunes entered the mainstream through such unlikely adapters as the Andrew Sisters. Eventually Klezmer went underground as its audience assimilated into mainstream American culture.

She’s high, giggly, not entirely there but her voice is still haunting and raspy and her presence still the one of a star. We see short clips of an interview held the same year in a hotel – an interview Gaul found somewhere, where he can not remember. We see footage borrowed from Andy Warhol’s estate. A parodic music video that re-envisions the Horatio Alger myth of the American Dream via 1950s-style cultural cliches, advertising and Reagan-era media propaganda. Smith's 'regular guy' Mike embodies a series of all-American male stereotypes, from the classroom to political candidacy, assuming the roles of college prep, cowboy, train engineer, and real estate developer. Set to an ironic jingle recalling of an 'Up with People' anthem, this lampoon of Manifest Destiny concludes with Mike riding, like an ironic Marlboro Man, into the sunset.

'Muchas Gracias de Nada', is a show premiered on June 15, 1979 at the Coliseo Theater in the City of Buenos Aires by the Argentinean ensemble of informal instruments, Les Luthiers. Recorded live between October 24th and 25th, 1980 at the same theater. PROGRAM: 1. La Campana Suonerá; 2. El Rey Enamorado; 3. Sinfonía Interrumpida; 4. La Tanda; 5. Canción para Moverse; 6. La Gallina Dijo Eureka; 7. Trío Op. 115; 8. Cartas de Color; 9. Tango Op. 11. In this show 'Antenor' made its first appearance, an advanced robot (for the time it was built - 1979) that weighed 80 kilos and was equipped with several motors that allowed it to move around the stage, turn its head, etc. The robot caught fire during the last performance of this play (Palacio de Bellas Artes, Mexico - 1980) in the middle of the stage and before the astonished gaze of all those who were there.
