Mariss Jansons conducts the Berliner Philharmoniker in the 2001 edition of the Europakonzert, filmed live at the Hagia Eirene in Istanbul on 1 May 2001. As he turns 50, filmmaker Pini Schatz sets out to explore his life-long obsession with the band Sparks (the brothers Ron and Russell Mael). Pini charts the impact of Sparks on his life while meeting with fellow Sparks fans, among them famous musicians, in Tel Aviv, London, Berlin, Rotterdam and NYC. Structured as a personal quest of the filmmaker to prove that Sparks are the coolest underrated band in the history of popular music, this docu-comedy explores the universal themes of growing old and being an outsider, the importance of art in daily life and the power of non-conformism.

The Jacques Loussier Trio represents something of an anomaly: a musical ensemble devoted to presenting jazzed-up versions of traditional classical pieces. The group originated in the late 1950s via the innovative efforts of Jacques Loussier, founder of the Play Bach Trio, then reformed some thirty-five years later (c. 1985) with Loussier, bassist Vincent Charbonnier and percussionist André Arpino, and an emphasis on stringing together an entirely new repertoire. This concert release presents an extended set by the second incarnation of the group. Selections include: Pastorale in C minor, Gavotte in B Minor, Fugue No. 5 in D Major, and Gavotte in D Major.

A dance and music film tailored completely for Marika Rokk: After her divorce, the wife of a composer uses her wit and charm to engage Marika as a singer and dancer on the stage. This manages to give life once again to the extinguished love between her and her former husband.

The musically talented, but socially challenged Henry (14) arrives at a private boarding school for music students at the beginning of a new school year. There, he unexpectedly discovers his fascination with playing the organ. From the fascination, a general love arise for the instrument, the playing of which offer Henry a refuge from the bullying that his fellow students puts him through. His teacher Ms. Schmidt recognizes his talent. Her growing interest in Henry, however, further worsens his position with his roommates Erik, Mik and Sebi. Erik feels that his status as the school's prodigy is threatened, his talent as an organ player has saved him from relegation for years. Erik rules the school and is together with Melanie, who has had Henry under her spell, since he first arrived at the school. Erik and his minions Sebi and Mik, do all they can to make Henry's life a living hell.

Ernst Krenek's theatrical piece Karl V. consisting completely of twelve-tone series should have premiered at the Vienna State Opera. The political situation in the Vienna of 1933 and the fact that Krenek was despised by the Nazis because of this Jazz opera Jonny spielt auf, prevented the première. It only took place five years later in Prague, however Krenek had already emigrated to the USA. Karl V was the last emperor to hold to the idea of a Christian empire in which the sun never set, although its downfall was always inevitable, for numerous reasons. For the second production of Karl V. in the Nationaltheater, Carlus Padrissa in particular seeks out political power systems that are highly topical, and so very precisely analyses the treatment in the theatrical piece. At the core of the intellectually and linguistically highly qualified libretto, written by the composer himself, Karl V. reflects on his life and makes his confession to a young monk below Titian's La Gloria.

At the helm of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, French conductor Marie Jacquot leads a rich program, with the participation of cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière.

3 miniature silent films with music after songs by Robert Schumann and poems by Heinrich Heine

This highly acclaimed production of Strauss Salome from the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden is staged by German director Nikolaus Lenhoff. Starring Angela Denoke as a brilliant Salome, who is joined by a great ensemble of soloists, Kim Begley, Doris Soffel and Alan Held. Performing with great aplomb , the Deutsches Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, conducted by Stefan Soltez, was also enthusiastically celebrated by critics and audience.

Film version of the musical by the same name: Sunnie, a girl from the province, comes to Berlin to meet rock star Johnnie who had given her his address after a concert. On the subway to Kreuzberg, Sunnie becomes acquainted with a couple of strange people, among them "asphalt cowboy" Bambi. Bambi tells Sunnie that Johnnie’s address in Kreuzberg does not exist. Together, Sunnie and Bambi try to find the rock star in bustling metropolitan Berlin.

The direct sincerity of Tom Walker's poignant lyrics was front and centre for Leave A Light On, released in 2017. This phenomenally successful single took the Scottish artist on tour to every continent and won him the Best New Brit Award at the 2019 Brit Awards. Filmed on July 29, 2024 at the Reeperbahn Festival, Hamburg.

Jean-Pierre Gorin filmed the rehearsals and premiere of Saint Francis, Olivier Messiaen's monumental opera directed for the Salzburg Music Festival by the American wunderkind Peter Sellars. The result was a first-person documentary in the form of a letter.

Consul Keyser, a factory owner, is vacationing with his daughter Marion on a Mediterranean island, hoping to bring her together with his assistant Dr. Thomas Steffen. On this island, however, the passionate fisherman Michael Lutz and his somewhat neglected admirer Barbara Holstein already spend their vacations.Michael asks the singer Bob Stuart, together with his band in their ghost costumes to drive away the annoying newcomers again. However, it no longer comes to this, because on behalf of Gina, the wife of the local police chief, real gangsters appear with the tourists and finally flee with their dinghy. So now the vacationers have to rely on each other willy-nilly, and the couples finally find each other.

"Kateryna" tells the story of a Ukrainian girl whose love is betrayed by a Russian soldier. In her despair, she leaves her child alone in the forest and drowns herself in the lake. It is the opera house's largest production since Ukraine's declaration of independence. The commissioned work is based on a poem by Taras Shevchenko (1814-1861), one of Ukraine's most important lyricists. The performance is partly on instruments specially developed for the opera, which imitate sounds of nature. 800 new costumes were designed and produced in Kharkiv.

25 years ago, the "Human Rights Now!" tour made music history: 20 concerts in six weeks across five continents attracted worldwide attention for human rights and democracy. Stars such as Peter Gabriel, Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Tracy Chapman and Youssou N'Dour make the tour, which begins on September 2, 1988 at London's Wembley Stadium, a huge success that does not suit the political agenda of all host countries.

This opera revolves around the demonic collective possession suffered by the Ursuline nuns in the convent of Loudun in 1634. The story concentrates on the handsome but doomed Urbain Grandier who fights against fanaticism and evil.

The DVD was filmed on 16th September 2011 in De Bosuil Club in Weert, Holland. During rehearsals on the previous day, all the musicians were interviewed for this DVD. The bonus interviews provide some very honest and candid insights.

The ruthless mafioso El Huron spreads fear and terror throughout Mexico. He and his henchmen know no mercy. When Chucky, a low-level member of the organization, reveals that a media and mafia conspiracy is being plotted against his cartel, he threatens to break down under the pressure.
